FOTD & OOTD | They can't, they won't, they never will, stop the party

Some times ago, my friends and I gathered for a cocktail/dinner party a bit before Christmas (hence the long hair) where we decided to dress up just for fun, so the ladies were in pretty dresses and the men wore chic jacket with tie. I figured out it would be the perfect opportunity to wear my Ruby Sequin Dress by DreamGirl since it's just so festive and chic at the same time!

Benefit The POREfessional | L'Oreal Touche Magique Concealer* | NYC Loose Translucent Face Powder*| Annabelle Biggy Bronzing Powder 'Caribbean Sun' | Annabelle Mineral Powder Blush 'Sugar Rush' | BH Lipgloss 'Wine & Dine'

NYX Doll Eye Mascara Long Lash 'Black' | Anastasia She Wears It Well Eye Shadow Palette (Glow, Foxy and Onyx) | MAC Eye Pencil - Ebony* | Wet n Wild Color Icon Liner Brow & Eye Pencil - Taupe

Since I really wanted to sport red lips to match my dress and look a bit more sophisticated, I opted for a more muted eye look and I went with a gold, brown and black smokey eye. I don't really own a proper red lipstick so I chose BH Lip Gloss in the shade Wine & Dine, which is a super sexy deep red, but it's a shame that it disappears after the first sip of beer - speaking of beer, have you tasted the limited-edition Rickars's Oakhouse Winter Lager? Succulent!

Ruby Sequin Dress - EdenFantasys | blazer - Suzy Shier | heels - Walmart | necklace - gift from my grandmother

I absolutely could not resist adding this dress to my wishlist when I spotted it on EdenFantasys, and while it is also available in sapphire, I just thought that ruby red was so sexy! It's a shame that it is so short though - next time, I will definitely have to wear tights or leggings, or at least, not bend down!

Project Pan Them All | December Empties

Since I was so in love with The Body Shop Shea Body Butter, I had high hopes for the Mango version as well, but I ended up being imensely disappointed! Despite being formulated for very dry skin, just like the Shea version, it is not nearly as thick - in fact, I had the impression of using a greasy body cream! And when I say greasy, I am not kidding - it takes forever to be absorbed into the skin, and the oiliness transfers on everything I touch, including my boyfriend, who kept complaning that I was all "buttery"! I never got proper results with continuous use, since my eczema-prone skin started to itch again after a few minutes of applying this product.

Since body mists usually never stay on the skin very long, I used Calgon Mmmmm! Vanilla Swirl Body Mist* mainly as a room spray, and it really smells amazing, but never sickly or overpowering.

I bought Clarins Intense Bronze Self Tanning Tint For Face and Décolleté in June 2011 so I guess it has passed its expiration date since it barely shows up on my skin anymore, when it used to give me a nice, dark, uniform tan. I hate the idea of a tint anyway, since it's super liquidy and virtually impossible to blend on the skin.

LUSH Gingerbread House Bubble Bar is probably the cutest bath product I have seen with its little snowy roof and cinnamon stick chimney, and its sweetly spicy smell just like fresh gingerbread makes me want to eat it! I usually prefer sweet scents but this bubble bar happily surprised me - as soon as I popped it in the bath, it created a mountain of spicy and fruity foam, while turning the water a bright orange, and best of all, the scent lingered for as long as I relaxed in the bath, without being overpowering. It is a warm, inviting and relaxing smell that just makes you feel good.

I used Eucerin Intensive Repair Extra Enriched Foot Creme daily and my feet really felt incredibly soft!  I was sure I would not like it because of its light formula but I have been proven wrong. I find the tube is too thin for daily use though because I used it up within two months!

My mother and I bought a couple of those Icy Breeze Spearmint Breath Spray in a Dollar Tree while we were on holiday in Wildwood and they really work amazing for only $1! I kept mine in my handbag for a quick breath refreshment whenever needed, and the small bottle lasted me a fairly long time because one spray is all you need for long-lasting fresh breath.

I was not expecting to be completely blown away by NYX Doll Eye Mascara Long Lash but it is one of the best mascara I have ever used! Everything about it is great - its brush which lets you reach even the smallest lashes in the corners of your eyes, its not too dry yet not too wet formula which lengthens, volumizes, curls and defines even the shortest lashes, and it never flakes or smudge. A true drugstore gem!

NYX Doll Eye Mascara in Long Lash

I am rarely sad when I finally use up a product but I truly loved my Marcelle Xtension Plus Mascara which is one of the most lengthening mascara I have ever used, not to mention that it holds a curl extremely well, also! When I used it up, I rummaged my mascara stash in hope to find a product that could compare to it, so here is my thoughts on NYX Doll Eye Mascara in Long Lash.

Doll Eye Mascara uses a unique blend of natural oils, Vitamin E and nylon fibers to extend eyelashes to almost faux proportions. It comes in lengthening, volumizing and waterproof versions, but today, I am sharing with you my thoughts on the Long Lash version, which is a lengthening mascara and boy, does it lengthen!

The hourglass shaped wand is wonderful since it allows the product to properly coat even those tiny lashes in the corners of your eyes, while ensuring a nice lift and curl that lasts all day, even on my super straight lashes. I have not found the formula to be too dry or too wet, and that mascara does not even clump after three coats - because, yes, I do need three coats to achieve the desired "doll eye" look.

L - R: before and after

I absolutely love how Doll Eye Long Lash lengthens and defines my lashes oh so well while leaving them soft and flexible, unlike most mascaras. It is also worth to mention that I did not notice a single flake or smudge throughout the day! On the other day, I have found this mascara to dry out quicker than most mascaras I have tried, but by the time it did dry out, I had used it up anyway.

Overall, I think it is safe to say that NYX Doll Eye Long Lash Mascara is one of the best mascara I ever tried since it gives my lashes everything I am looking for - amazing length and definition, curl that lasts all day, no smudge or flake.

NYX Doll Eye Mascara in Long Lash is available for around $9.00 in most drugstores and online on NYX website

FOTD & OOTD | Christmas & New Year's Eve 2012

I was really looking forward to Christmas this year because since our parents are not together anymore, my brothers and I attended two Christmas parties instead of one and we had tons of fun! Both parties were held at my brother's house on December 23 and 24, where we enjoyed amazingly decadent food meticulously cooked by my sister in law Magali - oh, and don't even get me started on the desserts... and the drinks - let's just say that the girl who used to only drink beer discovered a new love for whiskey sour cocktails (Magali's secret ingredient is frozen lemonade concentrate)!

L'Oreal Touche Magique Concealer* | NYC Loose Translucent Face Powder*| Annabelle Biggy Bronzing Powder - Caribbean Sun | Annabelle Mineral Powder Blush - Au Naturel | NYX Doll Eye Mascara - Long Lash Black | Anastasia Want You To Want Me Eye Shadow Palette (Brass In Pocket and Iron On) | NYX Liquid Crystal Liner - Crystal Onyx | Wet n Wild Color Icon Liner Brow & Eye Pencil - Taupe | L'Oreal Colour Riche Sheer Perle Chiffon*

I totally forgot to snap pictures of my makeup and outfit from December 23 but oh well! Since it was Christmas - OK, Christmas' Eve, technically - I decided to go for a heavy smokey eye with hints of purple - which left me with swollen eyes the morning after, of course (thanks, disgusting carmine!) - and glitters with nude lips.

I absolutely don't know what my right hand is doing in the far left picture -_-

I thought it would be the perfect occasion to wear my Stepping Out Little Black Dress by DreamGirl that fits soooo well and is so flattering! The material is just so stretchy and comfy, it's amazing! I added tights before going out to make it look a bit more dressy and elegant.

I was very lucky to have just recovered from a cold just in time for the New Year - is there a worst time of the year to be sick in bed? Our New Year's Eve party was held at my mother's home, where we ate, drank, sang, danced all night - I had not gone to bed at 5 am in such a long time! We also opened our remaining gifts - we had so many, we could not bring them all to my brother's house for Christmas! I will show you what I was fortunate enough to receive in an upcoming post but in the meantime, I posted a little sneak peek on my Facebook page.

I was recently spoiled rotten by the amazingly generous people over at Essence so I decided to finish my subtle makeup look with a touch of red lipgloss, and Red Blossom is incredibly shiny and so moisturizing! As for my outfit, since I wore a dress for both Christmas parties, I decided to a bit more casual. Oh and yes, I did chop my hair for the new year, but I will probably write a separate post about this too!

FOTD | Now I know what a fool I've been but if you kissed me now, I know you'd fool me again ♥

At the beginning of December (yes, I am late, as always!) was held my work's Christmas party and I had an amazing time with my coworkers! It is always fun to relax and hang out with friends in a different atmosphere than at work. We ate, drank and danced all night, but of course, I had to wake up at 5:00 the following morning for work - oh well, it was worth it!

I wanted to show you my FOTD but as for my OOTD, I did not have the time to take proper pictures but I chose to wear the dress from Winners I wore to Geneviève and Robin's wedding this summer, and I accessorized it with a blazer from Suzy Shier that I borrowed from my mother. I also wore some new boots I found for a bargainous price at Giant Tiger - I will probably feature them in an upcoming OOTD post.

Too Faced Natural Eye Palette | MAC Eye Pencil - Ebony* | NYX Doll Eye Mascara - Long Lash Black | Katy Perry Lashes by Eylure 'Cool Kitty' | Wet n Wild Color Icon Liner Brow & Eye Pencil - Taupe

I never had the patience for false lashes but when I it was brought to my attention that the new Katy Perry Lashes by Eylure ($7.99), the UK’s #1 false eyelash specialist, have now officially launched in Canada, I simply could not resist - they all looked so gorgeous and absolutely stunning!

When the four styles landed on my doorstep, I knew I had to wear some to the party, but which one? It was love at first with 'Oh, My!' since they looked so big and beautifully layered, but when I tried them on, I found them a bit too dramatic for what I had in mind. I decided that 'Sweetie Pie' and 'Oh, Honey!' were too natural-looking, so I finally decided to go with 'Cool Kitty', and I was not disappointed!

Katy Perry Lashes by Eylure 'Cool Kitty'

'Cool Kitty' is said to be one of Katy's favorite lashes since it is the perfect evening-wear lash with manicure tips. I love how they frame my eyes beautifully by adding just the right amount of length and volume without feeling heavy. Of course, my application was not perfect since I'm a beginner at false lashes, but I quite enjoyed the result, except when the left lash started to fall off at the end of the party, but I must admit I have been dancing like crazy all night, so I don't think the glue is that bad.

Katy Perry by Eylure Lashes are handmade, 100% natural and each style is reusable. The lashes are available at Shoppers Drug Mart, Jean Coutu, London Drug and Ebeauty.ca

FOTD & OOTD | Everything that I want, I want from you, but I just can't have you ♥

Friday night, my friends and I decided for something a bit different - a pyjama party! What, you can't get drunk party at a nightclub every weekend, can you? Sometimes it's fun to have a more laid-back and relax night, so we put on our cutest pyjamas (OK, I was the only one with an actual pyjama), cooked a delicious dinner (it was the first time I ever had curry rice, yum!), talked about our plan to escape to Cancun this summer and watched Seconds Apart, an horror movie (which is more of a weird thriller in my opinion, but it was OK).

I wanted to play with my Marcelle BB Cream-to-Powder for a while but of course, being a beauty blogger, it was out of the question for me to even swatch it if I had not taken proper pictures of it before, which is hard with this crappy winter lighting! To my great surprise, there was a ray of sunlight in the morning and I was able to take some pictures in preparation for an actual review, and I could not wait to try it on since I love the original BB Cream so much, and I was not disappointed! It conceals redness - damn eczema! - and the few blemishes I have without feeling heavy. I have never been a fan of foundation but this might just be my new faorite product! And to say I have waited five months before trying it... So I decided it would be fun to show you my FOTD featuring this product... and pyjama!

Unveiling of Diamond Spa's New Spa Space

Last week, I was cordially invited to the unveiling of Diamond Spa's new 10 000 square foot space in Dorval, Montreal.

I was so proud to actually have had the time to take pictures of my makeup and outfit, so here they are!

Beautiful and chich deco!

Diamond Spa also announced their commitment to being a social spa, which provides more than a typical spa experience - on weekend nights, Diamond Spa invites its clients to sumptuous evenings of papering enhanced by cocktails, cupcakes and music. The spa is also available for unique private parties - such as birthdays, bachelorettes and girls’ nights - taking special requests such as chocolate facials, a crowd favorite. Diamond Spa also will regularly give back to the community - in December, they will be at the Children’s Hospital brightening everyone’s day with mani-pedis. How awesome is that?

Live music and event coverage was supplied by 94.7 Hits FM.

I attended the event with my mother and I was pleased to encounter Sanya and Marjorie - what a nice surprise! We were greeted at the door by the very lovely Ania from KUSK Communications and we were invited to enjoy cocktails, appetizers and decadent desserts such as cupcakes, cake pops and chocolate covered strawberries while visiting the spa’s newly expanded space.

It was actually the first time I tasted cake pops - yum!

My mother and I enjoying some Cale Pops and cocktails

Members of the media were given a cute little gift bag containing a gift card valid for a facial or a mani-pedi and a sample of the vegan, organic and cruelty-free SpaRitual Close Your Eyes Organic Moisturizing Lotion. My mother left with a $20 coupon for a Shellac manicure or pedicure, a mini-facial or a massage.

Halloween FOTD | I got to know if you're the one that got away, even though it was never meant to be

To celebrate Halloween, I had the opportunity to take part in a super fun project in collaboration with Ladbrokes (play games here!) and Illamasqua. I was sent a very lovely surprise selection of gorgeous Illamasqua makeup to use to create the ultimate Halloween look  in association with the launch of their Halloween slot games.  These are actually my first ever Illamasqua products, so I guess you can imagine how excited I was to play with them! After browsing Pinterest and weheartit for inspiration, I finally decided which makeup look I would attempt to recreate...

Benefit The POREfessional | Covergirl CG Smoothers All Day Hydrating Make-Up - 710 Classic Ivory* | Stila Love at First Blush Palette

I chose to do a ventriloquist dummy makeup look! These doll seriously creep me out, but I thought it would be fun to recreate one. This look was done really quickly, in less than half an hour after the morning after a sleepless night - not a night of partying - guess who worked the night shift? I went for bold creepy eyebrows,  crazy big doll eyes, drawn on bottom lashes and cute little heart-shaped red lips.

Illamasqua Empower Palette ('Synth' all over eye area, 'Slick' undereye crease) | NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil - Milk | Annabelle Mono Eyeshadow - Ebony| MAC Eye pencil - Ebony* | Marcelle Xtension Plus Mascara

Illamasqua Lipstick - Magnetism

I am in absolutely no way a makeup artist, but this is actually the first "artistic" makeup look I have created and I think I am pretty proud of it! Of course, some things could have been improved, such as the eyes - especially the drawn on lashes, which could have been more defined - and the shading of the apples and the mouth, but hey, I think it's great for a first quick look!

Hopefully your Halloween party was more fun than mine - what were you dressed up as?

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

FOTD + OOTD | I am a wild one tame me now, running with wolves & I'm on the prowl

I'm incredibly relieved to finally be done with school - in fact, I actually find it hard to believe! Not to mention the strike and all - we voted to end the strike at the university where I'm going just in time because a few days after, the government announced that the students who were still on strike would finish their winter classes... in September! WTF?

Anyway, the purpose of this post is not to set a debate regarding this but to show you my first FOTD and OOTD in ages! The reason for this is that since I have been on strike, I have been working full time and my uniform is not exactly interesting, so I jumped at the opportunity to take pictures of some proper makeup and outfit that I wore to class - I even had a special guest...
