LUSH Easter Collection - The Easter Hunt Ends Here!

Hi ladies! Instead of giving family and friends over-packaged, calorific chocolate eggs this year, treat them to a tasty selection of LUSH’s new bath products especially for Easter! Much kinder to the waistline and the environment, as LUSH bath bombs, bubble bars and soaps are solid which means they are preservative free and packaging free. This year’s offerings include brand new inventions as well as returning favourites.

I had the hardest time trying not to spill glitters everywhere while photographing Golden Egg bath melt ballistic ($8.95)! A brand new invention, this egg is a bath bomb coated in bath melt mixture. It will unexpectedly sink to the bottom of the bathtub while the outer layer dissolves, popping to the surface as the fizzing centre is revealed. The outer bath melt mix is made using fair trade, organic, Colombian Peace Village cocoa butter and olive oil, and this little luxury is scented with the best selling Honey I Washed the Kids fragrance.

Isn't Bunny bubble bar ($6.95) the cutest thing? A bubble bar shaped like a white rabbit, made with shea butter and coconut oil, and with cornstarch added to the mix, meaning a more condensed bar that can be broken in half and used over two baths. Or you can use the whole thing for masses of softening Creamy Candy scented bubbles. Inspired by the white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, this sweet little fellow has a pink tummy containing little cornstarch flowers to float in your bath water.

Fear not, Carrot soap ($6.95) smells nothing like carrots - fruity essential oils such as buchu, lemon and bergamot were used to really make your mouth water. The orange part is made with carrot oil to moisturise while the white bunny inside is made with cocoa butter to soften.

Brightside bubble bar ($10.95) is back this year and this time to stay, as it joins LUSH's all year round range after Easter! A bright and cheerful swirl of a bubble bar to give you a fresh and cheerful perspective. It is scented with a trio of uplifting and invigorating oils: Sicilian mandarin, tangerine and bergamot oil and just a squeeze of lemon. All are energising and also incredibly toning oils that will lift the spirits and clear the mind. Crumble under the running taps and watch as the water turns into a hazy red and orange sunset with frothy white clouds of bubbles. This bar is so big, I am sure it could last for more than two baths!

LUSH Easter products are available online and in shops now!

KORRES Quercetin & Oak Collection

Hi ladies! After trying, falling in love and sadly using up both KORRES Quercetin & Oak Antiageing & Antiwrinkle Night Cream and Eye Cream, I was very excited to be given the opportunity to try a few other products from this collection!

I had never used something like the Instant Wrinkle Filler ($57.00) before so I was very curious about it, and I must say I am quite impressed! This product is a targeted treatment that visibly smooths fine lines and deep wrinkles for more youthful looking skin. Altough I am not struggling with deep wrinkles yet, I have some annoying expression lines around my eyes and mouth, but this filler does an amazing job at smoothing them, leaving my skin super soft! The precision tip is perfectly designed to apply this antiaging treatment directly to problem areas and the formula quickly absorbs for comfortable, all-day wear alone or under makeup.

Since I am struggling with very dry skin due to eczema, a serum is an essential to me, and I actually really like the Antiwrinkle & Firming Face Serum ($69.00), which is claimed to visibly improve skin texture while rejuvenating dull, aging skin. Did you know that quercetin and oak is the first natural, clinically proven alternative to retinol? An ultra-powerful antioxidant derived from the oak tree, it works fast to help minimize the signs of aging and keep skin looking younger. This serum also contains myrtle extract to improve skin elasticity, mourera fluviatilis to help maintain the skin's water levels, hyaluronic acid to help skin retain moisture and appear smoother, and hexapeptide to improve firmness. I really like how fast this product is absorbed into the skin, so that I can quickly follow with my day cream.

The Antiageing & Antiwrinkle Day Cream With Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 15 ($59.00) is probably one of the most moisturizing day cream I have tried! It reduces the appearance of aging while improving skin softness, smoothness, and firmness, and protecting skin with broad spectrum SPF 15. This cream also contains mourera fluviatilis extract which offers moisture binding properties to help maintain the skin's water levels while shea butter, in combination with sweet almond and hazelnut oils, nourishes and helps skin keep in moisture. I really use the thiniest quantity of product with each application but I have to make sure to really massage it in if I don't want to be left with random white patches on my face. I love how my skin imediately feels soothed, soft and smooth, and I don't feel the need to re-apply thorough the day.

KORRES products are available at selected Shoppers Drug Mart and Sephora retailers nationwide.

Annabelle Cosmetics Mono Eyeshadow in Goddess

I tend to favour neutral shades such as gold, bronze, brown or copper for eyeshadow, and Annabelle 'Goddess' is one of those gem that have quickly become a staple in my makeup routine since it is the perfect everyday shade, yet it is also stunning for a smokey eye at night!

Finding the perfect golden shade is not always easy - some are too bright, too dull, too orange-y, but not 'Goddess'! It is dark enough to look natural, yet it is super easy to layer for a deeper and more intense look. It always makes my eyes stand out, wether I use it alone or with darker shades and black eyeliner for a smokey eye.

'Goddess' is of amazing quality for a drugstore product - it is super smooth - almost creamy! - it layers and blends super easily, and it is incredibly pigmented - one swipe and I am good to go! I don't have oily lids so I have not experienced fading problems, but I like to always apply a bit of concealer on my lids to neutralize the redness due to eczema, so maybe this helps.

At such an affordable price ($5.95), you are sure to fall in love with 'Goddess' too!

Uriage Crème Lavante Soap-Free Liquid Cleanser

Hi ladies! Containing 1/3 nourishing milk, Uriage Crème Lavante is a 2-in-1 skincare product: cleanses and nourishes all at once. It preserves the hydrolipidic film, perfectly respects cutaneous balance and compensates for the drying-out effects of hard water. I have been using this soap-free liquid cleanser - formulated with thermal water and suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive and reactive - daily for a few months now and it's about time I share with you my opinion on it!

I have always been struggling with dry and eczema-prone skin, but this condition seems to have worsen since this summer, when I went swimming in a radioactive lake - yes, I know! - so I have to be extra careful regarding what I put on my sensitive skin to prevent any flare-up. The opportunity to try this soap-free cleanser came just at the right time!

I really enjoy the pleasant light, fresh and "clean" fragrance of this cleanser even though it doesn't seem to stay on the skin after showering, but its texture is not really consistent, which makes it hard to dispense the proper amount of product, despite the convenient pump packaging. I have to use a fair amount of product to produce a fine, creamy, easy-to-rinse foam, but I guess that for a soap-free cleanser, it's fairly good.

Crème Lavante leaves my skin soft without feeling tight or dry, but despite its nourishing claims, it did not really improve my skin condition and I still have to apply moisturizer after use. This cleanser can also be used on face and hair, although I did not try it, and it is suitable for all the family.

Uriage Crème Lavante Soap-Free Liquid Cleanser is available for $19.95 for 500mL at Jean-Coutu.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Smoky Extravagant Dramatic Impact & Graphic Precision Mascara

Hi ladies! After falling in love with PUPA Vamp! and Marcelle Xtension Plus, I knew it would be hard to find a new mascara that could compare to them, but I decided to give MUFE's newest mascara, Smoky Extravagant, a try. I must admit it was not love at first sight but after a few months of constant uses, I grew to actually like it a lot!

Smoky Extravagant, a precision mascara that adds volume, length, and curl, is claimed to intensify eyes with dramatic impact that attracts attention from afar and shows precise and defined lashes up close. Its « ergo-conic » brush was thought to allow for ultra-precise, intuitive application, but I actually think it is too big and super awkward to use - it is not precise at all and it makes it really hard to properly coat those tiny lashes in the inner corners.

What do you think of my pj's? ;)

When I first started using this mascara, I found the formula to be way too wet for my liking - there was so much product on the brush that I had to wipe it on a tissue before each use and between each coat! Also, the mascara also took forever to dry. I was happy to see the formula improve after a few weeks though, and I was left with volumized, lengthened and defined lashes that actually held a curl all day - and I have the straightest lashes ever! - after only one coat. I like to build up to three coats with this mascara for maximum effect, but be careful because it tends to start clumping at the third coat.

I am happy to report that I did not experience any flaking at all with this mascara! I am a bit sad that it seems to dry up so quickly though.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Smoky Extravagant is available in Black for $28.00.

OSiS Blow & Go Smooth Express Blow-Dry Spray

Osis Blow & Go Smooth Express Blow Dry Spray is a luxurious blow drying spray which reduces blow drying time and combats frizz. The essential styling aid for sleek and super smooth styles, this blow-dry spray has a non-sticky formula which dramatically reduces drying time whilst smoothing the hair and controlling frizz and fly away hair.

Blow & Go Smooth is very similar to Blow & Go Thick, which I very recently reviewed, minus the volume. What you get instead is smooth, shiny and sleek hair - just as if you used a flat iron! As for Blow & Go Thick, this spray does reduce blow drying time from maybe five minute - it usually barely takes 10 minute to dry my hair.

I was actually very impressed with the results after using this spray, even though I am not dealing with frizzy hair. If you are, I would definitely recommend Blow & Go Sleek to transform frizzy, unruly hair into sleek, elegant style!

OSiS Blow & Go Smooth Express Blow-Dry Spray is available for $21.00.

'It's in the Bag' Nella Bella For Cake Beauty Metallic Wristlet & Hand Creme Trio

Hi ladies! Home-grown brands Cake Beauty and Nella Bella joined forces to create this season’s ultimate must-have for beauty junkies and fashion-lovers alike. The It’s in the Bag gift set ($30, valued at $60) includes Cake’s luxurious, best-selling Velveteen Hand Cremes in Milk Made (vanilla milk & baked raspberry scent), Desserted Island (Tahitian vanilla & coconut scent) and the limited-edition holiday scent Vanilla Cashmere all inside an eye-catching metallic wristlet. The stylish Nella Bella for Cake bag offers a versatile three-in-one functionality that can be used as a daytime mini-bag, a make-up case or evening clutch.

I have not tried a lot of products from Cake, but their Velveteen Hand Creams are definitely a must-have! Not only do they have a mindblowing but never overpowering smell, their perfectly rich texture is absorbed into the skin in no time, leaving my hands incredibly soft, smooth and moisturized, thanks to marshmallow extract, mango butter and glycerin. These hand creams never feels greasy and I don't feel the need to constantly re-apply it through the day.

It’s in the Bag is the perfect gift or even as a self-indulgent treat and is available at Sephora and Murale stores across Canada and at cakebeauty.com.

Project Burgundy Hair | Echosline Seliàr Synergy Color in Chestnut Violet

Hi ladies! It was about time I update you all with my Project Burgundy Hair! I had not dyed my hair myself in a while since I had some Groupon to use before their expiration date, but now I am back with a product I have never used before - Seliàr Synergy Color.

Seliàr Synergy Color by Echosline is the first permanent, professional and ammonia- and pPd-free hair colour offered in drugstores. Formulated with keratin, Argan oil, linseed oil and silk proteins, Synergy Color gently dyes your hair while providing perfect coverage of grey. It also claims to not fade over time, which I am very sceptical about, especially since I chose the shade Chestnut Violet...

L - R: before and after

When I started pouring the dye in a bowl to mix it with Seliàr Synergy Cream Activator (I chose 30 vol.), I was surprised at how creamy it was! I did not particularly enjoyed the scent (although it is advertised to be "pleasant") but the drip-free formula was super easy and quick to apply on my hair, with no mess at all! I could not wait to see how the color would develop on my hair since it turned an amazing deep purple when I mixed it with the cream activator.

the results

After rinsing the color and applying conditioner, I was left with very soft, shiny and dark hair - the purple is noticeable only with a flash or in direct lighting, but I guess it will peek through a bit more after a few washes. Maybe next time I should use 40 vol.?

Echosline Seliàr Synergy Color is available for $16.48 in 24 rich shades exclusively at Uniprix.

OSiS Blow & Go Thick Express Blow-Dry Spray

OSiS Blow & Go Thick Express Blow Dry Spray adds voluptuous volume to the hair without any sticky residue and is perfect for fine, limp hair which needs rejuvenating with extra body. It also delivers light styling control and adds a luminous shine to the hair.

I must say I was really impressed with the results I got from using OSiS Glamour Queen H20-Free Volumizing Hairspray and I was eager to see how the Blow & Thick spray would compare. I was especially sceptical about the fact that it is supposed to reduce blow drying time, since I have never used a product with such claim before!

While this spray does reduce blow drying time from maybe five minute - it usually barely takes 10 minute to dry my hair - I can't say I was especially impressed with the volumizing results - my hair felt a bit thicker, but even if I made sure to target the roots, the results were not comparable to the Glamour Queen hairspray. I also used the product very sparingly, but my hair felt a bit dry the day after.

OSiS Blow & Go Thick Express Blow-Dry Spray is available for $21.00.

LUSH Christmas 2013 - Find Your Favorites That Return Year After Year, Along With Brand New LUSHious Holiday Inventions!

Hi ladies! It’s almost the most wonderful time of the year and LUSH is celebrating with thirty-five limited edition inventions and oodles of gorgeous, unique gifts. This year’s Christmas range is very special indeed – not only have LUSH's most beloved holiday classics returned, but they have created brand new inventions infused with fan-favourite LUSH scents.

Snowman ($5.95) is a warm and nourishing bath bomb full of vanilla and ylang ylang oils for the winter months. It is the Christmas version of Butterball Bath Bomb, a year-round bestseller, and contains chunks of cocoa butter to moisturize skin. Here is a little secret: Snowman’s carrot nose is actually a tiny Bubble Bar!

Buche de Noel ($12.95 - $29.95) is a fresh cleansing roll which contain so many nourishing ingredients, it's food for your skin! Suitable for all skin types, this cleanser contains ground almonds to gently exfoliate, dried cranberries and fresh satsumas to brighten, and hydrating almond oil and cocoa butter to soften dry and sensitive skin. In my opinion, it has a strange seaweed scent, but it works so well, so I guess it's just a minor thing!

Inspired by a hot après-ski drink enjoyed in the ski resorts of the Italian Alps, Bombardino ($5.25) smells of rich lemon cheesecake. Bits of cocoa butter from his whipped hat melt into the bath water to soften up winter skin, while Sicilian lemon oil and vanilla absolute gives the bath a delicious fragrance.

Isn’t The Christmas Penguin ($7.45) adorable? Inspired by the smallest penguins in the world (found on Philip Island, Australia), LUSH have invented their very own tiny penguin for bubbly bathtime fun. Crumble yours under running water for a bath scented with refreshing orange flower absolute, Sicilian mandarin oil and piles of white, glacier-like bubbles!

The Melting Snowman ($5.95) Bath Melt returns this year with his skin-softening legacy and and its spicy and comforting fragrance with cinnamon, clove leaf and sweet orange oils. Cocoa butter and almond oil nourish and soften the skin, while cinnamon leaf invigorates and help shake off fatigue.

This is a season worth celebrating, and as always, LUSH likes to do their celebrating in the tub!

OSiS Glamour Queen H20-Free Volumizing Hairspray

Hi ladies! Aren't we all fond of volumizing hair products? Even though I am not a huge fan of putting styling products in my hair regularly, I enjoy going all out for a special night out or event, and OSiS Glamour Queen is a really great product for this!

I have never been a fan of hairsprays because I hate how sticky most of them leave my hair, so I try to use them very sparingly. Glamour Queen features a an innovative trigger design which makes it easier to precisely target the roots, where the maximum effect is needed. I only need a few bursts of product to obtain the desired results on my normally flat hair - natural, clean and flexible volume!

My hair never feels wet or sticky, thanks to the fast drying water-free formula, even when heavily used! I also like how easy it is to brush out since I absolutely hate the dirty sensation of having products in my hair until the next time I shower.

OSiS Glamour Queen H20-Free Volumizing Hairspray is available for $20.00.

OSiS Thrill Fibre Shine Texture Gum

Osis Thrill Fibre Gum is a bendable and mouldable styling gum ideal for all hair types. It is not a product I would regularly use on my shoulder-length hair, but even if I am sure it would work amazingly well on short or medium choppy hair, I did enjoy how easy  it was to give my layers that tousled look.

Featuring Mega Elastic Fibre technology, this product delivers strong texture control with exceptional shine. Perfect for creating mesmerising separation, texture and definition, this professional styling gum has a super strong hold! I like that Thrill Fibre Gum doesn’t over burden the hair and allows for natural movement with a natural glossy shine. Another bonus: this gum can be used on dry or damp hair to create an array of textured looks.

OSiS Thrill Fibre Shine Texture Gum is available for $23.50.

New Additions to Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil

Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil products already have a precious place in my heart since they are so great at pampering my poor hair - please don't hesitate to have a look at my review of their Argan Oil shampoo, conditioner and treatment. I was really excited when a lovely package containing the latest additions to this range landed on my doorstep!

I was the most excited about the Argan Oil Deep Hydrating Treatment ($2.99) since the last time I had my hair done after returning from France, my hairdresser urged my to do many, many treatments if I wanted to revive my hair - yes, it was that bad (ladies, please pack hair conditioner when travelling - I learned my lesson the hard way!). Enriched with argan oil, keratin and grape seed oil to combat damage, breakage, split ends, dryness, dullness and frizz, this therapeutic remedy deeply penetrates leaving hair hydrated, restored, fortified and nourished with added strength and luster.

Let me tell you, I was absolutely blown away by how well this product performed! It has a great creamy texture so it does not make a mess in the shower, and you really don't need a lot of product at once. My hair was left incredibly smooth, soft, shiny and easily manageable! I must admit I was not a fan of the packaging at first, until I realized it was intended for a one-time use. Since my hair is not the thickest and it is not super long, one sachet lasts me quite a while!

smooth and shiny hair after using Argan Oil Deep Hydrating Treatment

I rarely blow dry my hair and I don't really have frizz problem, but I was curious about Argan Oil 3-Day Smooth Perfect Blow Dry Cream ($10.99), which claims to hold hair straight, frizz free and shiny for up to 3 days, thanks to a unique combination of ultra-light Mediterranean olive oil, argan oil and shea butter. Marc Anthony's exclusive anti-frizz lock technology makes curls and waves desirably straight, and keratin deeply penetrates to strengthen while vitamin E nourishes.

After rubbing the cream in the palm of my hands and working evenly through damp hair from roots to ends, I proceeded to blow dry my hair to create a frizz-free, smooth finish. My hair was left glossy and ultra-smooth imediately after, although I did not find this result to last up to three days - or until my next wash.

The exotic fast absorbing Argan Oil Dry Styling Oil ($10.99) goes on dry and revives dry, damaged hair. It is infused with keratin, ultra-light Mediterranean olive oil and argan oil to fortify hair and help correct damage, split ends, dullness and frizz, while vitamin E and shea butter deeply penetrate to hydrate, soften and protect. Hair is left nourished, revitalized and full of shine.

I like how this product can be used on damp and dry hair - I personally like to spritz it just before flat ironing my hair. It doesn not seem ike you can use too much, since it is absorbed quickly and it never feels greasy. It smells amazing and it leaves my hair amazingly smooth and shiny! It is definitely a staple in my haircare routine.

Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil products are available at Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart and other retailers.

LUSH Halloween 2013 - Fizz, Bubble, Mischief And Trouble

Hi ladies! Are you excited for Halloween yet? I wanted to take a few minutes of your time to present two spooky limited-edition Halloween inventions from LUSH, as well as two year round favorites to get you in the mood for that scary holiday - after all, we are only a week away!

Pumkin ($5.95) was created as Mumkin's autumn counterpart, since the adorable, pink raspberry-scented bubbler was so popular this past Mother’s Day. This mischievous little character has gotten into the Halloween candy early with a candy leaf and a licorice top, so be careful he doesn’t sneak into your candy stash when you’re not looking! Crumble into the tub to lavish yourself in mounds of cozy bubbles and soft, beautiful orange waters on a cool autumn night. The delicately-blended sweet and earthy aroma of orange flower absolute and ylang ylang oil softly perfumes the skin and leaves it feeling clean and fresh.

Inspired by the ruler of the Pagan Feast of Fools, Lord of Misrule ($5.95) brings mischievous revelry to the tub with a spicy herbal blend of patchouli and black pepper oil. As it slowly froths in the water, hypnotic swirling silver luster is released and the deep green exterior soon gives way to a rich, wine-colored center. Just like at the Feast of Fools, when the wine begins flowing, the revelry really begins! Popping candies fizz and crackle, creating a world of magic and mischief right before your eyes.

Demon in the Dark ($7.95) is an earthy tingly delight for the skin and a wicked refreshment for the senses. Wrapped in a layer of black wax, (which you peel off before you use it, or you won’t get clean!), underneath lies a forest green cleansing treat to suds up dirt-demons. Made with fresh mint (perfumed with peppermint and spearmint) and antioxidant-rich fresh organic apple juice to stimulate the surface of the skin and leave it brighter and cleaner.

Slip into Ceridwen's Cauldron's ($8.45) enchanting potion of oats, lavender and sandalwood to calm and soothe your irritated, sensitive skin. If you’re wishing for relief, this bath melt it will make your skin dreams come true. Rich, nutritious cocoa butter and walnut oil melt into the bath water to quench and soften your dehydrated skin, frothing ever so slightly, leaving you with a muslin bag of whole oats to give your skin a soothing and gently scented scrub for instant relief from redness and itch.

Enjoy a spooky pampering experience this Halloween with LUSH!

OSiS Dust It Mattifying Powder

Hi ladies! Have you used a texturizing hair powder before? Not me, and I must admit I was quite excited, but also a bit scared, when I was given the opportunity to try OSiS Dust It Mattifying Powder, since I had no idea how to properly use it! After a bit of research, I learned that this powder could be used for both volume and hold, and that there was a specific way to use it, depending on the result you were after.

I am not a big fan of hairpsray so I did not really try using this powder for hold, although all you have to do is smooth it over desired area to keep your hair in place. What I was truly after is volume, and I was blown away at how well this product performed!

Be sure to use the tiniest quantity of this lighweight powder if you don't want to risk making a big sticky and powdery mess, and also try to concentrate the product at your roots as much as possible for maximum volume. I find it works better if you pour a bit of the product into your palms first, instead of sprinkling it directly on your hair, since the packaging is a bit weird - in my opinion, there are too many holes and they are a bit too big, which makes it hard to control how much product you dispense.

I find this product requires a bit of getting used to since I must admit I really did not like it at first - I used too much of it and I hated the way it made my hair feel! Since it is a mattifying powder, of course it will remove some of the natural shine of your hair for that messy bed head look, but what I really did not like is that it left my hair sticky and really dry, and it was extremely hard to wash out - which I guess was expected since OSiS Dust It Mattifying Powder is a long lasting product, which is supposed to last 24 hours.

OSiS Dust It Mattifying Powder is quite a unique product that I personally prefer to use only on special occasion, but I really think it is a must, and if used carefully, it will not fail you! This product is available for $23.50.

Kushyfoot's Fall/Winter 2013 Collection

Hi ladies! This season, Kushyfoot are pleased to introduce their Fall/Winter 2013 Collection - the top-quality, affordable tights are designed to be implemented into each women's wardrobe. As the cooler months approach, Kushyfoot's women will step into these leg wear gems with fashion momentum, comfort and style. Highlights for their new collection include fleece flats-to-go, fleece lined tights and knee highs, shaping tights and fashion fishnet knee highs all with reflexology inspired soles with high style.

I had the pleasure to try a few of Kushfoot's offerings in the past and I must say I was pleased with their products! As part of their Fall/Winter 2013 collection, I had the chance to try their fleece tights ($26.97 / 3 pairs) and their fleece trouser socks ($17.97 / 3 pairs), which are ultra soft and give you total opaque coverage so you can brave even the coldest of days. Although the trouser socks are perfect to wear under your favorite boots, the tights (which I received in Small/Medium) surprisingly ran too small for me, even though I usually always wear this size...

With such an assortment, there are options for everyone!
