OOTD | Down on your knees, you don't look so tall

When I stumbled accross Dreamgirl Stepping Out Little Black Dress while browsing the dresses on EdenFantasys, I must say I was surprised by how nicely it appeared to be made for the price ($34.99), and I knew I had to give it a try because it looked like nothing I already own. Oh and, a girl always need another LBD, right?

I did not really know what to expect from this dress because, well, I have never tried anything from Dreamgirl, the sexy lingerie and costumes company, but having worked in a Halloween store, I know that their costumes are of amazing quality - with Dreamgirl, you really get what you pay for, and let me tell you, their costumes are not cheap!

I placed my order for the Stepping Out Little Black Dress in Small on July 18 (along with a bunch of other stuff that I will be sure to review as well), it was shipped the same day, and I received it on July 30 - a little more than a week, which is OK, but I was so impatient! I also had to pay $25 in customs but I guess it's worth it because my order was worth more than $100.

The dress came nicely folded and wrapped in pink wrapping paper, which surprised me a bit because I have never seen any wrapping paper in any of my previous EdenFantasys order, so maybe it's new? I do think it's a really nice touch though! Made of 90% Polyester and 10% Spandex, I was surprised at how silky the dress felt in my hands when I unwrapped it, and even more when I rushed to try it on!

The Stepping Out Little Black Dress feels so light, silky and stretchy, a bit like a bathing suit, that I almost feel as if I had nothing on, which is absolutely amazing for the hot summer months! Despite this, the dress is not sheer at all. The top is described as a boatneck sleeveless with the right side that is primarily meant to be worn draped off the shoulder but I also tried it with both sleeves up to create a cowlneck, which is equally nice. I have found that when I wear a sleeve of the shoulder, my bra is a bit exposed which is not a big problem for me when going out in the clubs but maybe not office or dinner appropriate.

I absolutely love how the chest area is loose but tighten around the waist to be really form fitting with ruching, which really shows off your curves. A negative point to this is that you will have to find no-line panties or even consider going commando because panty lines will show.  The left side of the dress showcases a lovely ruffle that runs down the waist to your thighs. The back of the dress is plain, but I wish there was ruching instead!

At 5'5'', I was surprised that the dress was not shorter - in fact, it goes to about an inch and a half above my knees, which is longer than what I would normally go for but you could always pull it up higher to create more ruching around the waist area and shorten the dress a bit.

Overall, I have absolutely no complain about this extremely well-made dress, except maybe that it's a bit sad that it is only available in black... and, as I previously mentionned, that I pretty much have no choice but to go commando. I still have to try it on with leggings or jeans for the winter months, but I'm sure it will look just as nice!

I am sad to report that Dreamgirl Stepping Out Little Black Dress is sadly not available anymore at EdenFantasys ):

FOTD & OOTD | Christmas & New Year's Eve 2012

I was really looking forward to Christmas this year because since our parents are not together anymore, my brothers and I attended two Christmas parties instead of one and we had tons of fun! Both parties were held at my brother's house on December 23 and 24, where we enjoyed amazingly decadent food meticulously cooked by my sister in law Magali - oh, and don't even get me started on the desserts... and the drinks - let's just say that the girl who used to only drink beer discovered a new love for whiskey sour cocktails (Magali's secret ingredient is frozen lemonade concentrate)!

I totally forgot to snap pictures of my makeup and outfit from December 23 but oh well! Since it was Christmas - OK, Christmas' Eve, technically - I decided to go for a heavy smokey eye with hints of purple - which left me with swollen eyes the morning after, of course (thanks, disgusting carmine!) - and glitters with nude lips.

I absolutely don't know what my right hand is doing in the far left picture -_-

I thought it would be the perfect occasion to wear my Stepping Out Little Black Dress by DreamGirl that fits soooo well and is so flattering! The material is just so stretchy and comfy, it's amazing! I added tights before going out to make it look a bit more dressy and elegant.

I was very lucky to have just recovered from a cold just in time for the New Year - is there a worst time of the year to be sick in bed? Our New Year's Eve party was held at my mother's home, where we ate, drank, sang, danced all night - I had not gone to bed at 5 am in such a long time! We also opened our remaining gifts - we had so many, we could not bring them all to my brother's house for Christmas! I will show you what I was fortunate enough to receive in an upcoming post but in the meantime, I posted a little sneak peek on my Facebook page.

I was recently spoiled rotten by the amazingly generous people over at Essence so I decided to finish my subtle makeup look with a touch of red lipgloss, and Red Blossom is incredibly shiny and so moisturizing! As for my outfit, since I wore a dress for both Christmas parties, I decided to a bit more casual. Oh and yes, I did chop my hair for the new year, but I will probably write a separate post about this too!

Christmas Wishlist From EdenFantasys

Ever since I discovered EdenFantasys, I just can't get enough - I place an order every month, and even then, my wishlist keeps growing - this is out of control! Since Christmas is coming very fast, I though it would be fun to share with you some things that are currently on my wishlist, and who knows, maybe you will even find some interesting and last-minute gift ideas for you or a loved one!

1. I personally like to dress up babydolls with a blazer or cardi and some jeans - why buy something so cute such as this Coquette Red Babydoll and Panty Set if you can't even show it off outside of the bedroom?

2. As a candle lover - like most of you ladies - how could I resist Shunga Rose Massage Candle? I like that it's a soy base candle and the tin is just too cute, like all Shunga packagings!

3. A girl can never have too many LBDs, right? That's why I had to add Espiral Black Off Shoulder Dress to my list! I love its simple, sexy yet classic design, and I can never resist a shirred side seamed fitted skirt. I contemplated getting the white version but I have been told it is not opaque at all...

4. Cake dessert-inspired body products are always irresistible, and the Orange/Vanilla Supreme Body Mousse is no exception! From what I have read on the blogosphere, it is said to smell of Creamsicles, yum!

5. Coquette must be my favorite lingerie brand on EdenFantasys - just look at this stunning Holiday Scalloped Babydoll and Panty Set, featuring gorgeous scalloped lace over satin babydoll with padded underwire cups and mesh skirt. Just put a black tank underneath if the sheerness of the babydoll scares you and you are good to go!

6. The cutest detail on Coquette Mesh Underwire Babydoll and Panty Set is the "Valentine Bear" broach - what a unique and original touch! I think this set looks elegant and sweet and would be absolutely perfect for the Holiday parties!

7. DreamGirl Lace Up Ruffled Chemise and Thong is, without hesitation, the most gorgeous piece of lingerie I have ever seen! I never had the patience for hook and eye back closure but this looks like it would be oh-so worth it!

8. I think Coquette Holiday Mini Dress looks a bit too short to go out without tights or leggings, and I don't understand why the back is so plain in contrast with the front, but oh well, it's still gorgeous!

9. Even though I have been hugely disappointed by Fifty Shades of Grey - I am not even done with the first book yet, that's what you get when you buy something purely because of the hype - I contemplated giving Bared to You, by Sylvia Day, an erotic novel often compared to Fifty Shades, its chance, but I'm still  not sure...

10. I just love the bustier top with padded cups of the Coquette Pinstripe Woven Lace Babydoll and Panty Set, and the little bows are so cute!
