The Seasons Change - So Does Your Beauty Routine!

Thanks to Walgreens for underwriting this post. I was paid as a member of the Clever Girls Collective, but the content is all mine. Visit http://www.discoverbeautywithin.com/.

When the warmer weather sets in, it's important to switch up your beauty routine as well. It's time to say goodbye to heavy body butters and welcome to light lotions, and throw away this heavy-duty foundation and opt for a tinted moisturizer instead. I have been thinking to write a post about how I switch up my products as the seasons change but I guess I have always been too lazy - time to stop slacking now!

Because I have dry skin that is prone to eczema, I still have to be careful to moisturize it properly, but not overdo it. I try to switch my super heavy products for a lighter alternative that is still able to properly moisturize my skin.

In the winter, I like to use a serum followed by a moisturizer day and night. I will continue to use my current combo at night because I don't care if it feels a bit heavy because I will be going to sleep anyway, but for the day, I will switch up Marcelle Hydra-C 24H Moisturizing Gel Cream for dry skin for Marcelle Hydra-C 24H Energizing Hydrating Gel. These products are from the same range, hence they deliver similar benefit, but the Hydrating gel feels lighter and it also melts when it comes in contact with the skin, which is very refreshing.

My two favorite cleansers are from Burt's Bees - the Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream and the Orange Essence Facial Cleanser - because they take great care of my easily irritable skin while leaving it feeling pampered. However, both tend to be a bit heavy for the spring and summer months, when my skin needs less TLC. As much as I appreciate the fresh and tingly feeling Noxzema Noxzema The Original Deep Cleansing Cream with Eucalyptus Oil provides, it tends to dry out my skin if I use it morning and night, so I use it only a night, followed by an heavy duty night cream.

I have a soft spot for body butters in the harsh winter weather because my eczema tends to flare-up much more easily and I have to be careful with which products I use on troubled spots. I have been trialing I Love...  Strawberries & Milkshake Body Butter recently and even though it's not the thickest butter I have tried, it's still a bit too much in the hot weather. A lotion I have discovered back in November and that I instantly fell in love with - it rarely happens, believe me - is George's Light Special Moisturizing Lotion. It has a light texture but it never fails to relieve dryness and itchiness, meaning significantly less eczema flare-ups. Also, I could feel my skin being moisturized all day, which I don't think I have experienced before!

L -R: e.l.f. Shimmer Gloss Pink, NYX Mega Shine LA~LA~, Revlon Super Lustrous SPF 15 Pink Afterglow, Annabelle Big Show (my own concoction), Eyeko Liptastik Hot Lips, Barry M Glossy Tube 11

I am not a regular lipstick wearer because I am cursed with constantly dry and chapped lips, but while lipsticks can look dull and harsh in the warmer weather, why not switch for a bright colored lipgloss? If you are not a fan of lipglosses, maybe try some colorful lipsticks such as NYX, Essence and Barry M.

My all-time favorite fragrance is, without any doubt, Jessica Simpson Fancy. I don't even understand why I have never properly talked about it on this blog, maybe because I find fragrances so hard to describe and so, hard to review? Still, Fancy is a deliciously sweet gourmand fragrance that smells just like dessert. While not everybody likes to smell like a cake fresh from the oven, when the warm weather comes, I like to wear something a bit lighter, fresh and even fruity and floral. My favorite pick would be Harajuku Lovers Baby, which is described as a powdery musk, fresh, clean and soft scent. To me, this perfume smells a bit of baby powder with a hint of fruit and vanilla.

I'm not the kind of girl who only wear pastel nail polish in the spring or summer and swears by dark shades in the winter. I wear what I want when I feel like it, but still, it's fun to pain your fingers joyful shades when the sun is shining! Why not swap those dull and boring dark reds for some happy mint green and banana yellow?

What changes are you making to prep for spring?

Borghese Nail Lacquer in B275 Verona Pink C

Today's most desirable nail colors, a blend of classic with the latest fashion trends... in a lavishly rich, nail strengthening polish.

  • Long-wearing, hydrating, stay-true color with exclusive Acqua di Vita® complex to help restore healthy moisture and Micronized Gemstones for brilliance.
  • The innovative Duale Curve Tip brush hugs nail curves for a precision line, delivering perfect application effortlessly.
  • Tolulene, DBP and Formaldehyde free.
  • Not tested on animals.

Verona Pink is a very pretty, fresh and incredibly juicy pink that was missing in my collection and it has quickly become a favorite of mine.

Comparison with Essie's horrendous brush (right)

The application is great, as the brush is so big - the biggest I've seen, in fact! - and perfectly firm, it basically covers the nail with only one stroke!

The nail polish dries really fast and it is easily removed. I love how this shade looks super shiny and glossy even days after applying it - can you see it in the picture?

If I'm right, Borghese Nail Lacquers retail for around $9.00 but I actually won this one (along with a few others) from Kim a looooooong time ago (thank you Kim!)

This post has been rotting in my draft posts for so long, and I figured out it should finally see the light as I have no mail to show you this week (I might stop posting these anyway). Also, for some reasons, I don't seem to be doing a lot of NOTDs posts... would you like to see more of them in the future?

FOTD + OOTD: The scars of your love they leave me breathless, I can't help feeling we could of had it all

I realize I don't post FOTDs or OOTDs often on here and I don't really have a proper reason besides lazyness. I must admit I never thought my makeup looks or outfits could be of any interest as I mostly stick with basic and neutral looks - boring much? - but these types of posts seem to be very popular on the blogosphere.

Anyway, I had a job interview two weeks ago (I got the job, yey!) and for once, I was not in a rush and I had the time to take proper pictures!

Sara and my boyfriend got me some goodies for my birthday =D

Sara decorated the bag and the box with words I say often like "man", "sex", "shit"... yes, typicial me LOL.

Maynards Juicy Squirts Sours: These are my favorite candies ever!

 How cute is this!

Fruits & Passion Foaming Bath Collection: The collection includes 2 fl. oz of Blackberry Musk, Pear Peony, Grapefruit Guava, Orange Cantaloup, Georgia peach and Field Berries. They all smell yummy, and I can't wait to try them!

Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express in Black Drama: I'm currently using the original The Falsies and loving it (even though I don't really see the "dramatic false lash effect"), so I'm sure I'll love this one just as much!

Burt's Bees Facial Care Kit:
This set is sure to naturally cleanse and will leave your face feeling refreshed and radiant.
  • Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream 170g
  • Peach & Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub 15g
  • Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil 4.25g

This set costs around $14 so it's a great bargain as the cleanser alone costs $12.99. I wanted to try a cream cleanser that wouldn't dry out my skin as it's already dry and it worsens in the winter so I'm very happy with this!

Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in Black and Red: I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy some myself because I'm very lazy and I didn't think I could achieve something great, but I will definitely give it a try.

Jim Benton's It's Happy Bunny Socks: I needed socks, and I love Happy Bunny! Sara picked these out because it says things I can totally relate to those quotes:

 "I hate everything." (Typical me!)

 "I just don't listen." (I... just don't listen LOL)

"It's all about me. Deal with it." (Yes, I'm selfish like that)

Jim Benton's It's Happy Bunny and Betty Boop Slipper Socks: Slipper socks are great to lounge around the house in, but unfortunately, these didn't fit, even though it says it will fit shoe size 4 to 10.

"It's cute how you think I'm listening." (Typical thing I would say to my boyfriend LOL)

I'm not sure what happened here, but the design on the back of the socks seems to have been glued to iself and it makes the socks incomfortable to walk in.

Yoshi plush: I was in Future Shop with my boyfriend when I found some adorable Nintendo plushes and my boyfriend bought me Yoshi! Isn't it the cutest? ^^

I have the best friend and boyfriend hehe! =D

Essence Duo Eyeshadow in Dream Team

Essence Eclipse Glitter Eye Pencil in Hide Bella Hide and Estee Lauder Artist's Eye Pencil in Softsmudge Black: I'm especially loving the glitter eye pencil as I have nothing like this in my stash, and it glides beautifully on the lid and the glitters are not too chunky.

  • Borghese Nail Lacquer in B250 Venetian Red F
  • MAC Lustre Lipstick in Lazy Day

I was thrilled at the sight of a such big package!

I'm not a fan of the fragrance itself, but the box is beautiful! I'm actually using it to display my perfumes on my vanity hehe =D

The whole package was smelling sooooo good, and I was like "Wait, this can't be fragranced with Daisy because I don't like the scent..." LOL. Then I figured out the Cake Hand Lotion spilled a little on the wrapping paper xD

Harajuku♥Lovers Fragrance Baby: I searched the web for a proper description of this fragrance as it's not written on the box, and here is what I found on Amazon:
A powdery musk, fresh, clean and soft.
Top notes: White Rose, Bergamot, Freesia.
Mid Notes: Orange Flower, Tiare Flower, Jasmine Petals.
Base Notes: White Musk, Soft Woods, Vanilla, Violet.

To me, this perfume smells baby powder, but not plain old baby powder. It's a little fruity too... I'm really bad at describing fragrances LOL. And look at that packaging! It's to die for!

Dior Diorshow Extase Mascara in Black Extase: Wow, I would have never bought a mascara this expensive myself so I'm really glad to have the chance to try it for free!

Cake Nourishing Hand Lotion Baked Citrus: OMG This smells heavenly! I will definitely be using it as a body lotion because I want my whole body to smell cupcake hehe =D

Borghese Nail Lacquer in Venetian Red, Verona Pink, Bambina Pink, Bellini Peach and Palazzo Lilac:  I really like Venetian Red and Verona Pink, but I'm not sure about the others, they all look so sheer...

2 coats, with flash (same order as stated above, from thumb to pinky)

MAC Lustre Lipstick in Lazy Day: Wow, this is my first MAC product! I was very excited about it, and I'm not disappointed. This is the perfect pale pink, and I've been wearing it everyday since I received it =D
