MAKE UP FOR EVER Rouge Artist Natural

I never thought I was a lipstick kind of girl until I started blogging seriously, which eventually led me to the inevitable - jumping on the MAC lipsticks bandwagon. I was never really interested in high end cosmetics brands but MAC lipsticks just looked so appealling and when I was given the chance to try some, I fell in love. That's when I began loathing lip glosses, their stickiness and their poor lasting power. One thing I did not like about MAC lipsticks was their price... and, more recently, the fact that MAC is not longer cruelty-free

Gaby's Beauty Blog being a cruelty-free blog, I had no problem walking away from MAC, but I must say I kind of missed their lipsticks... sometimes. That's when I went on the quest to find their perfect cruelty-free alternative, and when I tried Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks, I thought the search was over - that was until a lovely little parcel landed on my doorstep...

I had never tried anything from MAKE UP FOR EVER before. As I said before, I never had much interest for high end brands, and as much as MAKE UP FOR EVER is often compared to MAC, it just did not seem to get as much hype as the latter on the blogosphere, except maybe from a few makeup artists. Can you believe I was so ignorant of this brand that I could not even name one product from them?

I love the super sleek packaging!

In February, I was extremely fortunate to be invited by the very lovely Josianne from Être Radieuse to the MAKE UP FOR EVER HD VIP Event in their Pro Loft in Montreal and I guess that's what sparked my interest in this brand. When I got a totally unexpected email from the lovely Charlotte with the opportunity to try some of their new Rouge Artist Natural lipsticks, of course, I could not say no!

It did not take much time for me to fall in love with these ultra creamy and moisturizing babies that provides light coverage with a soft, shiny finish, which is exactly what I'm looking for in a lipstick in the summer! I have found these to be quite buildable for a more intense but never overpowering look.

I was sent the shade N2 Iridescent Beige and N19 Iridescent Icy Pink, and I have a hard time picking a favorite! They glide on just like lip balms and I love how glossy they leave my lips without leaving them dry, with a subtle hint of shimmer.

Formulated with lightweight pigments and illuminating mother-of-pearl, Rouge Artist Natural provides translucent shine with sheer yet radiant color that will naturally enhance any look. These lipsticks contain Cuapaçu Butter, Candelilla and Beeswax, which are said to add moisture to the lips and improve the longevity of the color. Even for someone who has naturally dry lips like me, I did not have to apply lip balm before and my lips were never left dry! On the other hand, I don't think these lipstick have the most amazing lasting power, although it's decent (around 4 hours without drinking or eating).

What I really like with the Rouge Artist Natural lipsticks is that I don't even need a mirror to apply them, because they go on sheer just like a gloss!

The new Rouge Artist Natural collection is available in a variety of luminous shades and three eye-catching finishes: satin, iridescent and diamond. The extensive range features hues ranging from nude and pink to berry and burgundy, making it possible to find a shade to complement every mood or occasion.

The remainder 32 shades can be purchased through the MAKE UP FOR EVER ProLoft (514.288.4445) or by visiting makeupforever.ca. These lipsticks retail for $22.00.
