Hard Candy

Hard Candy amazes with off the charts products, intense color, wild packaging and a flair for the dramatic. The name invokes all things girly and sweet while the brand brings in an edge and attitude. Truly the best of both worlds.
We turn heads, create buzz, lift energy, start conversations, end boredom and give good face. We push the envelope and pull in new fans. We will steer the industry to bigger and better.. We will quench the desire for a new and fun cosmetic line and leave women thirsting for more. Hard Candy makes a difference!

I must say, Hard Candy is one of those unique and original makeup brands that catches my attention everytime I walk pass by their stand at Wal-Mart or the drugstore with their cute designs. I always refrained myself from buying something from them because I didn't find something that I really need, but that didn't stop me dfrom being curious about their products.

Since I fell in love with the only Hard Candy product I ever tried, Fox in a Box Blushing Quad in Spicy and Sweet, I simply couldn't refuse the opportunity to try some more of their products!

What do you get when you mix a fabulous glossy, tinted, lip balm with an amazing sugar-lemon flavor and cool packaging? World Balmination! 8 shades to protect, nourish and moisturize your luscious lips and all for $3 each!
To win me over, a lip balm has to perform amazingly well, and when I saw this cute little tube, I must say I was sceptical, however, I have been proven wrong!

The moment I removed the cap, I fell in love with the smell - it's absolutely heavenly! It's not overpowering at all but if, like me, you love anything sweet, then I can guarantee you will love this. It's a real pleasure to get that hint of sweet scent everytime I put this lipbalm on!

Because these are tinted lipbalms, I wasn't expecting much pigmentation-wise and I was right - Bridal Blush is a pinky nudey shade in the tube but it's barely noticeable on the lips. It does glide very smoothly on the lips without that waxy feeling, leaving a nice sheen behind. I could feel my lips being moisturized for hours without the needd to re-apply, which is awesome to me.

My only complain would be about the packaging. Because the balm itself is extended halfway up already and can't be retracted all the way in, it's easy to make dents in it or even worse - break it off. You have to be careful not to press it too hard on your lips because it can break, but also watch out when you put the cap back on, because I accidentally made dents in my balm.

A gel-based mascara with serious sparkle. Glitter Mascara creates lashes that are full of brilliant glitter for an all-out glam-tastic look! Steal the spotlight at your special occasion or simply flaunt a little shimmery flair for the fun of it!
I honestly didn't know what to expect from this product as I've never used something similar before and because I'm not really into glitters, I made my mother try it.

First of all, don't try to use this mascara alone on your lashes because it won't work. The glitter sbarely show up and this product won't lengthen or volumize your lashes - it's basically glitters in a clear base that you apply  like a mascara.

The results is a little better when you apply Lash Tinsel over a black mascara, but it's nothing spectacular - you will need mor ethan one coat of product to get the glitters to properly show up, and you can't just glide the wand trough your lashes because this will result in uneveness. Just like with chunky glitter nail polish, you have to manoeuver to get the glitters where you want them.

Seventeen's A Dream over bare lashes

Seventeen's A Dream over black mascara

Overall, this product was very disappointing because from the look of it in the tube, I was expecting the brush to be loaded with chunky hot pink glitters, but no. If at least Lash Tinsel was a glitter mascara in a black base, that would work...

You can purchase Hard Candy products online or at your local Wal-Mart.

  4. Too bad about the mascara! It looks so pretty in the tube. I have not bought anything from Hard Candy for awhile now. They need to come out with some new stuff!

  6. I love HC products! I saw the lash tinsel in the store just the other day and it caught my eye bc I thought it was glitter liner.. I got excited! When I realized it wasn't liner I inspected and thought about the lash tinsel for a bit before putting it back on the shelf bc everything you said in your post is exactly what I assumed would happen.. sparse glitter, chunky, not worth the effort. Great review!! Now I know I'm not missing out ;]

  8. @beauty combat : Tu parles du Glamourflage? Il faudrait bien que je l'essaie un jour celui-là mais je préfère user les correcteurs que j'ai déjà avant!

@Sarah S.: I really want to try it but I want to use up my concealers before, and I only recently purchased theBalm Time Balm that I haven't even tried yet LOL!

@MissTwist : Yes I don't understand why they made the lipbalm stick out, but it's OK because it's truly an amazing lipbalm (: I also prefer glitter liner even though I don't use them often!

@ Tracy@Beauty Reflections: I know, they don't seem to come out with new stuff often, maybe that's why I never felt appealed by something from them?

@WitchHazel : I know, I thought it was a liner too! If at least the glitters weren't in a clear base ):

@ Jennifer : I agree, maybe if you want something subtle but I was expecting much more from it ):

  13. Hi Gaby! Happy holidays:]

  14. I totally agree with what Taygan said about the Hard Candy products - they are really a hit and miss. I bought their glitter mascara a few months ago before reading any reviews on makeupalley (mistake) and it didn't show up well on my lashes...not to mention the clumping it did when I layered it over basic black mascara. You pretty much summed it up in your review - that it's nothing spectacular and hard to notice.
    Great review Gaby!
