Shopping: Revlon Super Lustrous

Revlon lip products were on sale for $3.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart for the week-end and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to go grab a few things I had my eyes on for a while! I leaved home early to be able to go to the drugstore before work and I had a very merry swatchfest with a lovely lady before I finally made up my mind for two products.

Of course, I had to drop it just before being able to take a proper picture!

Ever since Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Primrose was launched, I've been lusting after it. According to Temptalia's Makeup Dupe List, it is supposed to be a dupe for the limited-edition MAC Lazy Day Lipstick at 100%, but I have to disagree. Primrose actually reminds me more of Angel than Lazy Day - See for yourself:

Click on the pictures to enlarge them if you can't read the name of the shades

Primrose is the pinkest of the three and it's darker than Lazy Day.

I've also been lusting after MAC Underage for some times because these days, I seem to be obsessed with lip products that make my lips look paler but of course, I thought it was insane to pay that amount of money for a lipgloss that I'm sure is easily dupeable and so I turned to Alex, and she recommended Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Peach Petal.

Now obviously I can't compare the two because I don't have Underage but from what I've seen of the net, Underage is a more on the pink side while Peach Petal is more... peach (hence the name LOL) Both are gorgeous milky nudey shades but personally, I'm not sure MAC lipglosses are worth it because they are sticky and pricey, while Revlon lipglosses aren't sticky and they are cheaper.

I almost picked up Pink Pout because it's supposed to be a dupe for MAC Angel at 90% but because it has a difference texture/finish and it's a little darker, I decided to wait because I just ordered Avon Ultra Color Rich Lipstick in Pout from Mélanie, which is supposed to be a dupe at 100% - I'm SO excited!

  1. I always hunt for dupes and wind up spending more on the several failed dupes than I would have on the thing I'm trying to dupe... oops XD

  7. I have primrose, and for some reason mine looks way more cool and blue-based than ay online swatch I have seen. My bullet is a pale milky pink, almost lilac. Maybe there is an inconsistency with the shade, which might account for why this wasn't a great dupe for you?

  10. It was such a good sale that I was sorely tempted to break my lippies ban. (Have to finish 5 before I can get a new one.) Hopefully they'll do it again! Nice to see someone else enjoyed a good haul. :)

  21. I LOVE MAC's Lazy Day lipstick. In fact, I am almost running low. I am trying to use it as sparingly as I can. I really hope MAC decides to re-promote this shade, again. If they do, I am going to buy like, 2-3 backup tubes of it, LOL! I love it that much :)
