Review: Covergirl NatureLuxe

The NatureLuxe Collection is a luxury makeup line that exchange certain select heavier synthetics for carefully-chosen natural ingredients, while delivering a polished makeup looka and a lightweight feel. The NatureLuxe Silk Foundation and Gloss Balm are higher end products with a more luxurious formula that can found at local drugstores.

Silk Foundation in Maple 340 ($15.99 for 30 ml/1 fl oz)

Redefine natural beauty with our lightweight silk foundation. With a touch of cucumber water and a hint of jojoba and rose hip extracts, our light yet luxurious formula takes heavy weight out of your polished finish.

  • Luxurious, lightweight feel
  • Infused with jojoba and cucumber extract
  • Silky formula goes on smooth for a polished finish

This foundation provides light to medium coverage (I had to add more than one layer to properly cover blemishes), which is perfect for me as I usually don't wear foundation. It goes on smoothly, leaving my skin very soft and dewy. It even gives my face a healthy glow.

I tried it in the shade Maple 340 and at first sight, I thought it would be too dark for me, but as the coverage isn't heavy, the difference isn't even noticeable. In fact, it adds a bit of warm and glow to my face.

The texture is very creamy and it blends effortlessly on my skin. The product is quickly absorbed into the skin and it feels very light, which is a big pro because honestly, nobody wants to feel like they are wearing a mask!

This foundation has a very subtle and fresh scent that reminds me of cucumber. Nothing over the top, but still pleasant.

However, I think the tube could be a little larger for the price (remember this is a drugstore foundation!)

Gloss Balm in Hibiscus 215 ($11.99)

Get the sheer color and shine of a gloss with the soft, lightweight feel of SPF 15 balm. Fortified with mango and shea butter, this feel-good formula leaves your lips feeling decadent and delicious.
  • Luxurious, sheer color with a hint of shine
  • Contains decadent mango and shea butter
  • Soft, lightweight feel
  • SPF 15

Wow, I'm absolutely amazed by this product! Seriously, after only one use, my lips were moisturized and the dryness was completely gone! I just couldn't believe it. Even my boyfriend noticed how soft my lips were (=

Looking at the color in the tube, I thought it would be really dark, but it turned out to be more on the sheer side, and very wearable.

The texture is light, very buttery, and it glides on the lips very smoothly. I love that you get the color and shine of a gloss without the usual stickiness.

I totally fell in love with the scent of this gloss balm. I don't know if they all smell the same, but this one smells very sweet to me, which I absolutely love. The scnet is stronger in the tube than it is on the lips, though.

Oh, and the SPF 15 is definitely a plus!

  6. Gaby, I was wondering why you feature CoverGirl products on your blog when Procter & Gamble (the company that owns CG Cosmetics) is known to test on animals.

You've featured PETA items on your blog a number of times and I was just curious as to your take on animal testing when it comes to cosmetics.

  11. @..R May A.. @Aya @@Anna Elizabeth : Not only is the gloss balm pretty, it's amazingly moisturizing, too!

@Katie : It works wonders on me. I struggle with eczema so every part of my body tends to be dry and I can never find a definitive relief for dry lips, but this thing is seriously amazing! I still can't believe it!

@FashionAffair : I'm in love with the gloss balm, but the foundation does a pretty good job, too (=

@The Girl On The 22nd Floor : I'm against animal testing and I try to buy from brands that don't test on animals as much as I can, but P&G policy regarding animal testing isn't totally clear . See those links: http://pg.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2728/session/L3NpZC95UlJxUF9vaw== and http://www.pgbeautygroomingscience.com/animal-testing-alternatives.html

@Boutzie' : I'm glad my review could help you! I hope you'll like those products as much as I did (=

    @Kenzie : It's definitely great!

@Harrriiiet : Yes, I've been told it's not available there. Strange, as P&G is such a big company z=

  20. @Blushingloves Irene Greece: This foundation is perfect for me as it doesn't feel like a mask. And the gloss balm is amazing!

@Little Asian Doll: Il n'y a pas de CoverGirl en belgique? Ça m'étonne que ces produits ne soient pas plus répandus, P&G c'est quand même énorme!

@mandy : I personally didn't notice a white cast, but if you do, that must be due to the flash.

@LilyLipstick : Awww thanks doll! I'm still surprised that CoverGirl isn't available everywhere.

    @Tracy D : Ahah yes, I agree, that's quite a strange name for a gloss hehe!

@MissPukku : Really? Why didn't you like it?

@Kim's Vanity : Awww thanks hun, but I cheated with foundation this time hehe =P

  28. Hi Gaby,
Looks like I'll have to check this out once I finish my Laura Mercier Tinted moisturizer. I also hope my ultra sensitive lips will respond well with gloss.

  29. @christine: Aww thanks! yes I find it happends with gloss all the time, you pick a lighter shade because you're afraid it will be too pigmented, but it ends up being too sheer )=

@filipa : Hi Filipa! Since I'm not a regular foundation wearer, I didn't even notice if it lasted all day on me... I'm sorry I can't help you )=

@bettzy93 : Actually, it's buildable, but I prefer a lighter coverage on me.

@EveryDay Makeup blog: Thanks Becky! I don't usually wear foundation as I don't like feeling like I'm wearing a mask, and this one is perfect!

@Boxed Up Beauty : You should, they are great!

@sugar sugar : I'm seriously in love with the gloss balm!

@Maria Elizabeth: I don't usually wear foundation but I've been wearing this one since i got it and as it's so light, I even forget I'm wearing doundation LOL.

@lexi920: Oh yes, I have super sensitive lips too, but I didn't get any allergic reaction to this gloss balm. Hope it will work for you too!

  30. I want to try this lipstick! I have super dry lips so so it's really important that my lipsticks are moisturizing. Are you wearing the lipstick in your face pictures? What ever is on your lips, It looks gorgeous on you!

  31. @littlelucy : It does wonders for my lips, seriously! Unfortunately, no, I'm not wearing the gloss balm in the face pictures, that's actually quite silly, I should have LOL! I'm wearing Natural Collection Pink Mallow and Mary Kay NouriShine Lipgloss in Pink Diamonds (=

  34. J'avais recu un échantillon dans cette teinte et j'hésitais a l'essayer pcq jme rappellais que tu lavais eu et je croyais que ca serait trop pale... He bein jai bcp aimé! La couleur me va bien a ce temps ci de l'année et jaime leffet dewy que ca me donne. Jtrouve que la couverture est correcte, j'ai des boutons en ce moment (arrrrrrgh!) et ca parassait moins.
