L'Oréal Féria Power Reds in R37 Rich Burgundy

Remember my last attempt with red hair dye? Looks like I haven't learned my lesson yet...

This is the first time I see so many things in one box of hair dye!

Before:

During the process:

After:

OMG! The exact same result as Garnier Nutrisse Intense Red! Again, the red only showed up on my blonde roots. At first, I was really mad, because it was clearly stated on the box that this hair dye is recommended on medium brown to black haircolour. BUT, after reading the back of the box for the third time, I found the catch:

As French is my mother tongue, of course I'll read the instructions in French first! And in Frnech, it's not mentioned that it's recommended on medium brown to black natural haircolor! It only says medium brown to black! That's a little stupid, don't you think? Let's say I couldn't read English, how would I have known this hair dye is recommended on natural haircolor only?

It's not a complete mess, I kind of like the look of my hair now, but still, that's not what I was expecting, and I'm a little angry at L'Oréal!

  4. I hate that L'oreal didn't package put that "natural" part in the French instructions... Sometimes even the simplest packaging snafu can cause a company so many problems. I hope they'll fix it in the future.

Oh well, on the plus side, at least it didn't turn out that bad. :)

  6. That's really annoying that the packaging information isn't particularly clear...I just tend to look at the "before and after" pictures on hairdye boxes...still, you hair looks really shiny after the dying and the red roots look quite cool! x

  7. Its because dye doesn't lift dye it only makes it darker if going from light to dark, they should be much clearer on their instructions though xx

  8. @Adrienne: I hate that! But this time I'm very disappointed because it's their fault, their instructions weren't clear -_- Thanks, I can't wait to receive them! =D

@Chrissy: Yes, that's totally stupid. I mean, yes I understand English, but what if I didn't? That's not my problem, it's their fault! I mena, come on, it's L'Oréal we are talking about, not a little unknown company!!

@Adele: Well I'm glad it worked for you. I didn't have much luck, I guess.

@LilyLipstick: Yes, that's why I'm mad. Even only one word can change everything! But yes, I do like the red roots, it makes my hair unique, I guess hehe!

@Charli!: Yes I know that, the point is that they didn't state in French that this hair dye was meant to be used on natural hair color. And that makes me mad!

  10. I saw the picture of your roots and was like :O such a pretty colour.
Shame it wasn't all over !

  11. Wow, that's pretty terrible. Over here the instructions are always in English and Arabic. I do read Arabic, but English is my mother tongue so I always just read the English part. Just terrible, I don't know why they didn't just include the full description? So weird.

Maybe you can try using a gentle color remover to get rid of the dark dye and then try again. I'm considering dying my hair red and might do that because my hair has layers and layers of dye and I want an even result.

  12. You might want to look into "color oops!" to lift the darker color then try the red again. Once you have dark color on, you either have to lift it, cut it off or let it grow out. Can't color lighter over it. Just can't.

  14. Feria did this to my hair too but don't worry it evens out. Try Head & Shoulders shampoo because that evens out the hair colour and makes it fade a bit! Gloria x x

  18. Je trouve ca beau, quandmeme!
I also had a horrible experience with red dye! The whole top part of my head, a good 3-4 inches, decided to turn a BRIGHT burgundy. 2 days before my job interview! Thank god I was able to get an emergency appointment at a salon to get it fixed!

  20. I agree with Elizabeth, if you don't love the colour in a day or so I would search for some "color oops". I can totally sympathize with you - when your hair doesn't turn out the way you want it it's super disapointing :( and if it's a colour you don't love you just don't feel like you.

Good Luck! Keep us updated on your 'do'

  21. @Sriya : Me too, too many times! I should have known -_-'

@Harrriiiet : Actually, in the pictures, the color at the roots looks much darker than it is in reality, maybe because of the flash. It's not orange but it's not burgundy )=

@prettyinthedesert : Oh no I'm never touching bleach or something like that ever again, I've had my fair share of bad experiences with those. My natural hair is dark blonde so the red won't stay anyway, I have already tried x=

@~Elizabeth aka Lacquered Lizard : Oh I don't know, I'm quite scared of those things. I have already tried bleaching my hair back to blonde and the red dye didn't stay.

@Gloria : Yes I knew this trick but haven't tried it. Thanks!

@Princess Feef : Aww seriously, you too? Like you, I'm never, ever bleaching my hair again myself.

@Lauren : Thanks for the advice, but I'm quite scared of bleaching my hair again. I don't even know if "Color Oops" is available in Canada?

  22. Oh I'm sorry Gaby! I've had horrific results with at home colours before. Usually I call my hairdresser crying!

  24. You should try Manic Panic. They sell it at beauty supply stores and some Shoppers Drugmarts. I've had friends that dye their hair red, purple, green from black hair and they have all turned out pretty well. Hope that helps! =)

  25. @Anonymous: I have already tried various colors from Manic Panic in the past but the colors tends to fade after a few washes. Thanks for the advice though! (=
