Burt's Bees Peach and Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub

I love face scrubs and the fresh feeling and glowing skin they provide and I always struggle to not use them too often because of my eczema, but I think I'm pretty safe with this one. I got a sample (0.53 oz / 15g) of this scrub in Burt's Bees Facial Care Kit (which also included Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream 170g and Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil 4.25g) that I received as a gift for my birthday two years ago. Surprisingly, this scrub always leaves my skin super soft and moisturized.

I was wondering how could a scrub moisturize - I'm used to harsh exfoliators that dry out my already parched skin - and I also noticed that after using it, I was left with a slight oily residue on my face. I looked up the ingredients and the second one turns out to be grape seed oil, which explains the oil that is left behind after washing out the product, which also helps in preventing my skin from drying out. Have no fear, I'm not saying this Burt's Bees scrub will leave your face super greasy, but I think it's nice that it somewhat compensates the action of the scrub.

I love that this scrub is non foaming, so you really get a good exfoliation because the beads (which are really peach seeds) never seem to magically "vanish" unless you let them go down the drain, which is amazing because you can scrub your face for as long as you like with only a little quantity of product. These seeds are not extremely abrasive, I think they are just perfect. I also like how creamy this scrub is instead of being all liquidy and runny.

One thing I don't quite understand is that on their website, Burt's Bees keep referring to this product as a cleanser, despite its name. I personally would not use this as a cleanser everyday because it would be way too harsh for my poor skin, but I guess that it you have oily skin, maybe it could help?

Burt's Bees Peach and Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub is 98.45% natural and is avaible at Well.ca for $12.99 with free shipping for all Canadian orders.

  3. Nice-looking beads. I can tell that the scrub is great for pore refining. Will need to consider this next time.

  7. Hi Gaby! It was so nice to hear from you :) How have you been doing?!
Great review on the Burt's Bees face scrub. I've used this Deep Pore Scrub and I agree that it's not a cleanser. I don't think any scrub is great at removing my foundation for example - I leave that job to either an oil cleanser (like my MAC Cleanse Off Oil) or a foaming face cleanser. It's great that the exfoliating beads don't magically disappear as you said since I think they're actually small pieces of the willowbark of small pieces of a peach seed - or that's how I remember them looking like :)

  8. Looks like a really nice scrub, it's good that the seeds aren't too harsh on the skin but I agree that using this everyday as a cleanser would definitely be a bit much! Thanks for the comment on my blog by the way, I hadn't realised that I turned on captcha so it's off now :)

  9. I definitely wouldn't use this as a cleanse, but maybe a scrub 2 times a week. I tried the Cleansing Cream from this line, and it almost left a menthol-like feeling on my face when applied, but I didn't find it especially cleansed the skin really. :-\ The Willowbark line sort of disappointed me I suppose.

  10. @ Hunter87: St Ives didn't work for me at all, it left my face insanely irritated, I'm even scared to give it another try!

@Karen Law : Hi Karen! I don't think scrubs are meant to remove foundation, although it doesn't really matter to me as I'm not wearing foundation on a daily basis.

@Mandy : I agree, I think it would work twice a day as it's not insanely abrasive in my opinion. I do love the Cleansing Cream very much though, it seems to work very well for me as I'm not wearing tons of makeup on a regular basis and it soothes my dry skin really well. I'm sorry the Willowbark line didn't work for you ):
