Guest Post : Nail Polish Inspired By The Cinema

This post was written by Aleya who is the owner of Spontaneous Chick which is a beauty blog that features nail polish reviews.
More and more today we are seeing our favorite nail polish brands create colors based on upcoming movies expected to be blockbusters. The brands go above and beyond to create colors that capture the personalities of the characters and the feel of the plot so that we can feel a connection to them. In the long run, not only do they add some beautiful product to their collection but they get the attention of nail polish addicts worldwide. Here are five such inspired lines that we love.

The Hunger Games

The latest of the group in this post is nail polish inspired by the movie ‘The Hunger Games’. The brand that got to create the line is China Glaze and I have to say that I don’t think that anyone could have put out a better product. Known for their 3 free products and glittery polishes with staying power, China Glaze drew inspiration from the different districts in the movie. For example, polishes inspired by district 2 (masonry) is a charcoal grey with silver specks in it while district 11 (agriculture) is represented by a gorgeous green. The line includes 12 different colors some which are solid and others that sparkle brightly. Sorry but district 13 is not included in the line.

The Muppets Muppets

Creating a line inspired by the ‘Muppets’ is pure genius because even before you try out the colors you immediately get a feeling of fun and energy so you have no choice but to smile. OPI created a line that consists of both glittery polishes as well as more basic ones so you can decide how wacka you want to go. Taking this one step further, OPI has made the glitter polishes available in two versions as well. There’s the simple tone on tone shades such as Animalistic which is a red base with red glitter and then there are the multi toned such as Divine Swine which is a color made up of a purple base with silver hexagons.

Footloose

Diehard fans of the original ‘Footloose’ movie weren’t racing to theaters to get a glimpse of the remake. However, beauty addicts did take notice of the four beautiful nail polishes that Deborah Lippmann put out to celebrate it. The line included three crème colors and one sparkly dark blue polish for those of you that like a little dazzle on your nails. Something else that stands out about the line is that each color is named after a popular song such as Almost Paradise and Footloose.

The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

OPI put out a line of pastel colored polishes inspired by the tropics, including a pink polish called Steady As She Rose and a lavender polish called Planks A Lot. However, before you cast aside these pretty light colors, take notice of the silver crackle that they partnered them with. When used together the pastel polishes and the crackle create a beautiful design with a touch of mischief. Unfortunately, the line was available in stores for only a short time but we’re sure that you can find them online.

You’ll be hard pressed to choose a favorite from any of the lines as they each have at least one must have shade that you’re going to want to add to your wishlist. The best way to handle this is to pace yourself while shopping for polishes. After all, Hollywood is sure to partner up with more nail polish brands to create even more amazing colors in the near future and you can bet that there are going to be more amazing polishes that you’ll want to try out.
