L - R: Day 2 Night, Butternut
Luxuriously smooth, pigmented formula provides your eyes with a bright and beautiful sweep of rich color. The formula blends into skin for a long lasting, beautiful effect. Each quad is comprised of 4 coordinating shades that allow for both natural and dramatic looks. Built-in mirror and applicator included.
I was lucky enough to win these two eyeshadow quads, Butternut and Day 2 Night, from Heidi's giveaway in September and I was super excited because they are actually the first e.l.f. makeup product I tried (I had only used their mechanical eyelash curler before). I didn't know what to expect from a $1 eyeshadow but I have heard mainly good things about e.l.f. so I was very eager to give these a try.
L - R: Day 2 Night, Butternut
The thing that absolutely wowed me about these quads is the pigmentation - it's incredible for only $1, it's way better than some Lancôme and high end brands eyeshadows I have tried! Of course, this doesn't apply to all the shades - in both quads, the highlight shades are super chalky, sheer and completely useless, but the darker shades are really dark, super buttery and smooth! Seriously, I couldn't believe it! These eyeshadow blend really easily and they are also easy to remove.
Day 2 Night
Butternut
I don't wear eye primer on a daily because I don't usually have a problem with creasing eyeshadow except maybe if I'm doing an intense activity like sport or something, but these eyeshadows lasted all day on me without losing their vibrancy. I'm not sure what they mean by "brightening eye color" though because I didn't notice my eyes being more awake or anything.
These Brightening Eye Colors definitely sold me to e.l.f! If the shipping fees weren't that awful (it was around $16 to ship in Canada the last time I checked) I would definitely stock up on a couple of items. I think these eyeshadows are amazing if you are on a budget or if you are a begginner in makeup because they offer a wide variety of shade - at this price, you can definitely grab them all!
However, I would advise you to be careful because, as I say, the quality doesn't seem to be consistency in every shades, and I guess it will be the same thing with most of e.l.f. products.
e.l.f. Brightening Eye Colors retail for $1 on the e.l.f. website.
Hello Gaby,
ReplyDeleteyou are right about the quality being different from shades to shades, as I have tried one of these, and the eyeshadows in it are not all a lot pigmented (I'd say half of it is fine).
I've used one of these quads before and I liked it pretty good:] You're right, some colors are better than others.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed that recently they've come out with these palettes in really bright colours, which I'd love to try.
ReplyDeleteI have this ELF 32 colour palette and it's pigmentation is alright, but I do notice that they fade, so you're lucky you don't have that problem!
I made an order more than a year ago, and I think I payed ~$14 in shipping, but when I got the box I noticed the price of shipping was $26 or something. It's nice that I still wasn't charged that much, especially since I thought $14 for shipping was already quite a lot.
I have the day 2 night quad and I love it. elf definitely makes some really good products. Have you tried their eyelash curler? It's the best I've ever used
ReplyDeleteXo
Both colors are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteGreat post Thank you for sharing =)

ReplyDeleteThanks for this great review Gaby!
ReplyDeleteJe n'ai jamais essayé cette marque avant :)
These are really pretty, I'll have to take a look at the shades in stock the next time I'm at Target!
ReplyDeleteI have ELF palette and some of the shadows are great while others not so great. I am glad that these little quads work out great. I might just try some:)

Great review;)
ReplyDeleteI cant believe these are your first ELF products! They are definitely hit or miss!
ReplyDelete@Arezu : Yes I think the shipping price was similar for me too last time I checked on their website, I think it's way too pricey! It sucks because there's no Target around here and so e.l.f. products are quite hard to find ):
ReplyDelete@MaviDeniz : Yes, as I mentionned in my review, it's my absolute favorite eyelash curler, even though I hate that the little rubber thing always gets dents in it and I have to throw away the whole curler and buy another one because the rubber pads are not available to buy separately -_-
@ Holly : Thanks hun!
@Sari : I wish we had Target here ):
@Canadian Angel : Glad you liked it (:
@ Eugenia s: I know LOL! But e.l.f. products are quite hard to find around here because we don't have Target and the shipping when orderinf from the website is awfully pricey!
Isn't ELF awesome? I was pleasantly surprised by their eye makeup too.

I totally agree with how the lighter colors are completely useless lol! But the darker shades are amazing!
ReplyDeleteTake care girl!
Xo
This palette is what lead to me ELF products too! I have butternut and I really like the purple/brown shade the best!
ReplyDeleteThese $1 quads are completely underrated, there are some great ones..Ethereal is one of my favourites too. I may be wrong but I use paypal and I believe I've never paid more than $10 for shipping. Or you can wait until they have free shipping sales. I can't believe you haven't used more ELF! I really like their cream eyeliners too.
