Review: Vaseline Intensive Rescue Extra Strength Lotion

Price: 4.99$ for 325 mL

The claims:

  • not greasy
  • imediately relieves itchiness
  • quickly absorbed in the skin
  • subtle scent (reminds me of cucumber?)
  • imediately leaves skin feeling soft and smooth
  • got rid of all of my dry patches in less than a week!

  • texture is a little too light for my taste
  • not convenient bottle (I would have prefer a squeezable tube)

What I think:
I was very excited to give this lotion a try because I tend to have super dry and eczema-prone skin, especially in the winter. I was amazed to see that this lotion imediately relieves itchy skin (which often leads to eczema, in my case), and leaves it soft and smooth. Also, this product is quickly absorbed in the skin and leaves no greasy residues behind.

I tend to prefer body butters over lotions because I like a thicker texture, but I find that this Vaseline lotion does the job quite well. However, I would have prefer a squeezable tube as this one tends to get messy and slippery.

  1. Glad to hear you recommend it, I got a large bottle of it (with a pump) at CVS recently because it was on sale for $5 I think, and I had a $1 off coupon, so I purchased it but haven't used it yet!

  2. The vaseline cocoa butter moisturiser thingy ma jiggy is quite nice! Haven't tried this one though.. Great review! xx

  3. Neat review Gaby :)
My gf swears by Vaseline although personally I've never liked it. I always found their lotions to be too watery for my liking and nothing special IMO.
Have you tried the Aveeno or Cetaphil Eczema creams for your hands? They really both work wonders for me.

  4. @Jennifer: Yes, I'm surprised to recommend it myself LOL! It's a nice surprise (=

@LipglossAndLeopardPrint.: I'm looking forward to try the coca butter version, it looks yummy!

@Karen: I'm totally with you regarding the texture, but I was surprised to see that this lotion is highly hydrating! No I haven't tried the AVeeno or Cetaphil Eczema creams for my hands, but I'm waiting for a sale or coupons to get them.

  5. je l'ai achete il y a pas longtemps et je laime! ca hydrate bien =D

  6. @petitechouxx : Oui, j'en suis même très surprise vu sa texture! C'est un peu comme un miracle ahah!

  7. My mom loves this! She uses it and she loves the light texture but. I prefer my lotions or body butters to be on the thicker side :)

  8. I do like Vaseline, but not much the lotion. Thanks for the post.

  9. its really yummy, you should absolutely give it a try :)

  10. @EveryDay Makeup (becky): I'm with you on that one, but I'm still very impressed that such a light lotion can moisturize this well!

@Angelys: Aww really? I probably wouldn't have bought it otherwise because I tend to prefer body butters, but I'm glad I got to try this. It's amazing!

    @Christine: I know! I'm a sucker for anything sweet =D
