Shopping: my prescriptions from Jean-Coutu

I went for my annual medical check-up this week, and these are the prescriptions I ended up with:

Protopic Tacrolimus Ointment, 0.1% 30g (for my eczema)

Taro-Clobetasol Propionate Ointment USP 0,05% p/p 50g (for my eczema)

Pms Desonide Cream 0.05% 15g (for my eczema)

Hydroxyzine 10 mg capsules (to calm down the itchiness caused by eczema or allergies I may have)

Clotrimaderm 1% (I have dry skin that itches at the corner of my lips)

Nasonex Aqueous Nasal Spray (for my allergies)

So yes, when I went to pick up all of those at my local Jean Coutu, the pharmacist was kind of laughing at me LOL. She was like "You've got a lot of eczema, don't you?". Well yes, and I also have allergies or something that prevents me from breathing with my nose -_- Anyway, I hope all of those creams and ointments will finally get rid of my eczema!

I also wanted to let you know that Gaby's Beauty Blog now has a Facebook page! You can find the box below and in my sidebar. Feel free to "like" it. Thank you!

  1. Wow, looking at all of these prescriptions just makes me realize how much more Canada cares about their people than the United States. I really want to move there, if not just for the amazing health care!

  2. @Stephine: You are right, we are really lucky here in Canada. With my father's insurances, I barely pay around $3 for a cream that would have costed me $50! The total of all of those prescriptions was a little under $200!

  12. Hi Gaby, wow your doctor really does prescribe quite a bit of cream for your eczema like you said. That's strange because don't you think one should do? My dermatologist only prescribed one and I have to say, it is quite effective although drying up to a certain point (which is where my Aveeno eczema cream comes in). The key for me and my prescription cream is to use it as it states, "sparingly" so only a thin coat. I haven't used my prescription cream for more than 2 weeks straight at any given time though because I find it too drying :\
So far the Aveeno eczema cream is really working for me. I already bought the Aveeno baby eczema cream and the Cetaphil eczema cream Restoraderm from the States this past weekend since it's a bit cheaper there. I have high hopes for these creams! I'll let you know if they continue to work. But so far my eczema acted up a little bit this weekend for some reason :\
I use to have breathing problems (stuffy nose) esp when sleeping. I saw an allergist last year and found out I was allergic to all dust mites and my guinea pig. I ended up buying new pillows since I heard I should replace them every 1-2 years and that helped me a lot - dust accumulatin probably? And at one point I was doing a salt rinse for my nose everyday for about 3 months straight? Now I'm good for the past few months and I don't need a nasal spray like before :)
