My dear Dorothé left for a better place yesterday.
I spent all day at the beach yesterday and when I came back, I noticed he wasn't moving when I entered my room. I immediately thought it was strange, because Dorothé was a super nervous rat; he would jump at any sound I would make!
I touched him and... he didn't moved. I was too scared to look at his face, not wanting to see his eyes wide open and lifeless... so I ran upstairs to tell my mother, crying.
She wrapped him in one of her old pajama and tied a ribbon on it. My boyfriend, my mother and I buried Dorothé with the flowers in front of our house:
He didn't seem sick or anything (I had two rats before him and they all died of tumors - which affect 70% of female rats), and he wasn't that old (I don't remember his age, but my gerbil is older than Dororothé). His death was really sudden, which didn't helpd me. I cried all night, but I'm glad my boyfriend was there to support me.
Dorothé was a shy and nervous rat, but once he was in someone's arms, he would calm down and often fall asleep. I had allergies but I didn't care. I would like to have another rat in the near future.
RIP Dorothé III ♥
This made me so sad :( I hope you can feel a little better soon xxxx
ReplyDeleteAwwww, I'm so sorry to hear about Dorothe passing away :( *hugs*
ReplyDeleteShe was a really cute rat. I love how her fur was lighter.
I'm actually allergic to my guinea pig too but because I love him so much (and right after I adopted him too) I still keep him and hold him. I just wash my hands after right away...
But at least Dorothe is in a good place now and it's nice that you can visit her in your garden with the pretty flowers. My gerbil Mousie passed away earlier this year and it was really sad for me too. I couldn't touch him either when he passed away. But my Dad helped me to bury him in my parent's front yard and it's nice for me to remember him everytime I visit my parents.
Gaby, I am so sorry for your loss. Pets are like children to many of us; losing them is devastating!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that Dorothe had a proper burial. Hang in there and let me know if you need anything!

Pauvre Gaby. Je sais très bien ce que c'est que de perdre un animal quand on s'y attend le moins. On les adore, nos bébés. Le bon côté des choses, c'est qu'il n'a pas souffert. Je pense à toi.
ReplyDeleteAw that's so sad :(
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for your loss!
Feel better soon x
I'm so sorry for your loss. He was a beautiful rat. x
ReplyDeleteBless your heart, doll! Dorothe is most definitely in animal heaven now!
ReplyDeleteAw. I can't stand most rodents and rats of all of them, but I've adopted my sisters rat because she couldn't take care of him and I've become so attached. I didn't know most females get tumors. I wonder what was wrong with him? He was so pretty though and he looked very happy!
ReplyDeleteoh this made me cry! :( when my baby (girl) dog died I cryed for days and days and even now and then I still cry when I remember her, I know how much some people can get attached to their pets, sorry to read he left, I really hope you feel better soon ;)
