Review: Annabelle Mineral Powder Blush

Au Naturel

Price: $13.50 for 0.08 OZ / 2.5 g

The claims:
A softly subtle blush for a radiant and natural looking complexion. Available in three beauty enhancing shades each more luminous that the other. Formulated to help shape your features subtly yet efficiently.

How to use:
Use a Kabuki brush (available in limited edition only) specially designed to be used with mineral powders. Or apply with the A-12 blush brush. Choose among three skin perfect shades to create the look you want. The lightest shade can be used to create the look of a blushing ingénue while the darkest shade can be used to create a more dramatic yet natural effect. Sweep blush using light upward strokes over the apples of your cheeks, then blend into temples.

Blush may also be swept over shoulders and/or cleavage to create a subtle yet luminous glow.

Ingredients: MICA BISMUTH OXYCHLORIDE TITANIUM DIOXIDE IRON OXIDES CARMINE

Pros:
  • highly pigmented
  • contains very subtle shimmers for the perfect radiance
  • delivers the perfect coverage as it's easily buildable
  • great packaging for a drugstore product (it doesn't look cheap)
  • light, finely milled
Cons:
  • as it is so pigmented, it's easy to overdo it
  • expensive!

What I think:
I'm still relatively new to mineral makeup, but so far, I'm loving it. This blush gives a natural glow to my face, and the color is perfect for my skintone. As it's so pigmented, I like that you don't need a lot of product to achieve the perfect look (howver, it's easy to overdo it).

  1. You're right - 13.50 for 2-ish grams is kinda expensive. But since you don't need so much it's not so bad. Yeah, I think I'll stick w/ pressed blushes for now - the mess just drives me insane :)

  3. Hi Gaby! I hope you had a lovely weekend.
Yeah, I didn't think the Annabelle blush would be $13.50. I haven't really paid much attention to that brand but always thought it was around Maybelline pricing. Sometimes I overdo my blush too and I find that if you have a highlighter, you can use that to help take away some of the excess blush or even just go over the blush with a bit of face powder.
In regards to the coconut oil, the Parachute coconut oil I buy is from a local Indian grocer down the street from my parent's house. The cheaper coconut oil worked just as good if not better than the more expensive organic one that I got.
No suprisingly my hair is not greasy after I shampoo the coconut oil out of my hair. I use a clarifying shampoo so maybe that's why? Is your shampoo too moisturizing? You know how some shampoos look milky and some look clear? The clear ones are good for clarifying and for getting rid of the oil/build up. I guess also I have naturally dry hair so maybe that's why it's not greasy for me? I even condition my hair after shampooing out the coconut oil and it's not greasy at all - it makes my hair soft. I hope it works for you if you try it out :)

  6. @ndoodles: You are right, but I'm always reluctant to pay more than $10 on any drusgtore product. I like the results of mineral blush, but I don,t think they are worth the mess - and the price.

@jooLee: Thank you!Yes, I hate the mess it does, expecially in the morning when I'm in a rush LOL.

@Nora-Schu: Thank you! And thanks for the award!

@Keisha: Well it's nice, but I'm not sure it's worth the extra cash and the mess.
