Figs & Rouge had an idea - to create a balm that would be completely free from any harmful chemicals & synthetic ingredients - voila! - a 100% organic, 100% pure, 100% natural skincare product! Vitamin enriched organic essential oils, pure nourishing shea butters and nature's best organic bees wax. This is our award winning formulation made to deliver the best & most effective moisturising & natural balm for all skin types!
I was offered to try out a new product that Hip Apotheca are launching called Figs & Rouge. I've heard of these balms and as you know I'm addicted to lipbalms, of course I couldn't pass up on this opportunity!
This balm is actually a little hard to describe. You may remember that I previously reviewed Antipodes Saviour Skin Balm? Well it's not that sort of balm, it's much smaller and purse friendly but I would say it's more like Rosebud Salve but with different scents and not as oily and more on the creamy side. It's a 100% vegan multi purpose balm and it comes in a variety of scents.
At first sight, I thought the tin was so small, but don't let this fool you - when you open it, you can see that the lid is pretty large and you actually get a pretty decent quantity of product!
I decided to use Figs & Rouge only on my lips because of its texture, I don't feel it's the kind of balm that you can apply all over your body (just like the Saviour Balm). Speaking of texture, I don't think I've used anything similar before!
When you open the cap, the balm looks solid, but once you dip your finger in it, you can notice a grainy looking texture - but it's actually not grainy! It's creamy and it melts to the touch, leaving just a hint of shine to the lips as I find it's super quickly absorbed, leaving your lips smoothed and moisturized. Even though it's absorbed very fast, I didn't feel the need to reapply more product through the day - in the morning and at night was enough.
I think the tin is incredibly cute and the size is great for just throwing it in your purse or in your pocket. Of course, a tin is always less hygienic than a tube, but I think these tins are way cuter and I'll be sure to re-use them when I use them up!
Even though I only used these on my lips as of yet, the possibilities are endless when it comes to these amazing balms. Besides moisturizing lips, Figs & Rouge can be used in a multitude of ways: - Having a bad hair day? Use it to tame stubborn flyaways. - Lightly dab on dry patches around eyes, lips and nose without disturbing your make up - Moisturize dry cuticles - Mix a bit of pigment to create a sheer tinted lip balm
Figs & Rouge 100% Organic Natural Balms are available at Hip Apotheca in a variety of scents and in two different sizes: $5.60 for 8 ml / .26 oz and $7.70 for 17 ml / .60 oz.

ReplyDeleteJ'en achete parfois chez winners
This looks cool! Too bad they don't do It'l shipping :(

I love the packaging for this balm, those tins are absolutely adorable! The texture sounds really nice, too; I'll definitely be on the lookout for these.
ReplyDeleteI'd buy one for the packaging alone!<3 So pretty :)

I got one in my GLossy Box last month and I really like it. The little pot is so pretty and it keeps my lips moisturized a lot longer than vasaline. It's also Emma Watson's fav aparently!

ReplyDeleteXo
wow they do look lovely! i'm confused whether they are lip balms or body balms especially with your photo but thanks for sharing your experience. i have yet tried a "grainy" balm that melts on the lips. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never tried a balm with this sort of texture.. it looks so interesting! I really love the packaging, too!
ReplyDeleteJust curious: How did you find the tastes/smells of these?
ReplyDelete@Sara : I personally think the smell is very subtle yet natural - for the rose one, it smells the real thing, not that cheap chemical rose smell! It didn't really taste anything to me. Hope it helps!
