Mail of the Week (September 26 - 30)

Candace Skye Jungle Blue swimsuit: How kind is it of the gorgeous Candace to send me this amazing bikini? A leopard print swimsuit was definitely missing in my collection and I couldn't have asked for something better! I know we're almost in October already but stay tuned for my review.

Passion Savon soap samples: I've always been more of a shower gels girl but since I tried some LUSH soaps, I must say I changed my mind and now I like to alternate between the two. That's why, when I was given the opportunity to try some of these handmade soaps that don't contain palm oil, preservatives, petrochemical or harsh detergents, I had to accept. Passion Savon soaps are also cruelty-free and vegetarians.

I was sent a selection of samples to try:
  • Oatmeal Cream & Banana
  • Mandarin Yogurt
  • Goat's Milk, Honey, Lavender & Cedar
  • Cranberry & Rhubarb
  • Chestnut & Chocolate Torte

Pai Skincare products: I was very kindly offered to try some Pai Skincare products to help with my eczema and you know how I'm constantly complaining about this skin condition? Eczema products are usually filled with chemicals and other nasty things and steroids thin the skin, so I'm always on the lookout for natural alternatuves. I was sent these two products:
  • Comfrey & Calendula Calming Body Cream
  • Rosehip & BioRegenerate fruit & seed oil

$10 Sears gift card from MyPoints: I'm a member of MyPoints since May 2010 and I was finally able to redeem my hard earned 1650 points for this gift card, yey! Now I'm left with only 35 points...

$5 off coupon on any Cetaphil Cleanser or Moisturizer from WebSaver.ca: I finally bought Cetaphil RESTORADERM Eczema Moisturizing Lotion some times ago after hearing Karen rave so much about it, but I'm not sure I really like it. It doesn't seem to do much for my eczema even if I use it every time I wash my hands, and that is disappointing because $20 is pretty steep for some drugstore hand lotion when you're on a tight student budget.

I found this coupon offer some times ago and I completed forgot about it until now. I'm not sure I'm ready to give to give this lotion another try, but I figured out it couldn't be wrong to have a backup, just in case. This is until I started wondering if Galderma were conducting tets on animsl... and this is what I found:
"As such we, as any other Canadian pharmaceutical company, are obligated by Canadian law to test our products on animals to show they are safe for human use."

...Seriously? Wow. Now that's totally lame. This coupon is going in the trash right away.

  5. Hi Gaby! Awww I feel bad that the Cetaphil Restoraderm and Aveeno Eczema Care Cream didn't work out for your eczema. Both products cured my eczema 100% as I said before....and I've been eczema free since earlier this year. Did you stick with the Cetaphil and Aveeno products long enough? I know you do experiment with a lot of other lotions, creams and soaps especially for many of the reviews you do so I wonder if that has affected your healing progress. Also, as I advised before be very wary of soaps. I found most hand soaps had triggered my eczema on my hands when I had eczema before. I stick with either the Fruits & Passion Cucina liquid hand soap or any Dove Beauty Bar soap. And to this day I still only use either the Cetaphil Restoraderm or Aveeno Eczema Care cream on my hands when I'm at home/working. The only exception is that I have a tube of the Fruits & Passion Olive and Corriander Hand Butter in my purse since it doesn't irritate my hands and it's smaller in size for carrying around.

It's good to see that almost all the skincare products you get to try out at organic or at least made for sensitive skin. The oatmeal and banana creme soap sample sounds sooo yummy! I recently tried out a sample of the Body Shop's oatmeal and honey face scrub and it's soooo good. I'm going to get a full sized just because of the scent LOL
Ahhh I know how much you love leopard print so that's so nice of Candace to get you a sexy bikini. It's okay that it's October - you never know if you'll have a vacation to a sunny spot in the middle of winter :) Plus, there's no wrong time to buy a bikini in my books hehe

  6. @Miss Holly : Really? How cool! I think I missed your post though, off to read it now!

@Cocovanilla : Absolument! C'est pas comme s'ils avaient d'autres akternatives de produits pour l'eczéma, ils ont seulement la gamme Restoraderm que je sache... j'avais commandé ce coupon expressément pour ça, c'est tellement décevant!

@ Karen Law : Hi Karen! I really appreciate your advices, you are so kind! You know, products always work differently on different people, just like I found the Skin MD Natural lotion helped with my eczema on my face but did nothing for you. I'm glad I decided to give these Cetaphil and Aveeno lotions a try anyway, I will continue to use them and we'll see.

Yes I know I do experiment with a lot of product but I don't know if you have noticed, but I haven't reviewed hand creams recently, and the products I received to help with eczema, I used them on my face and other parts of my body where I have eczema. I've been faithful to the Cetaphil and Aveeno products on my hands, and I made sure to re-apply after every time I washed my hands, but my eczema would always flare up and I had to use steroids. I want to experiemtn with natural products as much as I can because I suspect the chemical in regular lotions to trigger my eczema.

It's hard for me to be careful with soap because I'm at school or work everyday and I don't really see how I could keep my own soap with me. I can't tell for sure but I don,t think I have notice a flare-up of eczema after washing my hands. Maybe I should see a naturopath but I'm soooo scared of needles!

  9. Yikes that's brutal they word it like that. I know it's all the same but that would make me stay away forever from their products if I used them and read that!

The soap looks interesting, I am thinking they smell pretty good?

  14. love that bathing suit and good for you for not buying products tested on animals. I can't believe that the product actually stated that it tests on animals. I've never seen a product that has said that before.
