Baby oil as an eye makeup remover?

I started using Equate Baby Oil as an eye makeup remover about one month ago, and I think it works wonder! It easily removes eyeshadow and mascara while leaving skin moisturized and soft. Oh, and it's pretty inexpensive compared to my usual makeup remove, Klorane Sensitive Eye Make-Up Remover (around 12$). But I've heard that it can also clog pores and cause breakouts, as the skin around eyes is really sensitive. Well, I haven't experienced those effects yet, and I don't see why it would happen if I make sure to wash my face and completely remove the baby oil after removing my makeup (as I would do with any other makeup remover, anyway). What do you think? Is it okay to use baby oil as a makeup remover, or should I use a product specifically designed for this use?

  1. Hey Gaby! I totally use baby oil all the time to get my eye makeup off. I wear so much eye makeup it's like bordering theatrical look! LOL. Yah, so most makeup removers just don't cut it and baby oil has never let me down - and it doesn't break me out or give me any negative side effects because I just wash my face with cleanser right after :)

  5. I think it's okay as long as you remove all of the oil traces after removing your eye makeup. I on the other hand use extra virgin olive oil to remove my mascara and eyeshadows. It never broke me out.

  7. hi Gaby!

I now use baby oil to remove all make up traces on my face too since my cream type cleanser which worked really well was replaced by my sis in law with a lotion type (she said pimple prone skinned people shouldn't use cream types but i really wanted to disagree) that just doesn't do the job. so i ended up using my baby oil at home and so far, it doesn't break me out. however, make sure you use a good facial soap to also remove the oil and its traces...

  8. I used to use baby oil from Johnson & Johnson to remove my exe make up, but I dont really like the results, as it leaves greasy residue after taking all the make up off...so I go back to my usual eye make up remover by Biotherm for sensitive skin... that removes everything all at once.

  9. Are you kidding? Baby oil is the shit for removing makeup!!! I use it all the time, in fact, I think I use the same generic baby oil you have there. I love generic products. I've never had a problem with the mineral oil clogging my pores. In fact, they say that the molecules in mineral oil are too large to penetrate your pores and clog the deeper layers of your skin. I mean, if you look at your face and you can see those tiny holes without magnification, then you should probably stay away from baby oil. Otherwise, I don't see any damage done, given that you gently wash your face with a mild cleanser afterward. Now, I've used Avon eye makeup remover, Merle Norman eye makeup remover, and a few other drugstore products, but baby oil is a product that I always return to. It just melts off all the mascara, liner, etc. without leaving my eye lid dry and taut. Baby oil is great.
