Really, this product needs no introduction! Ideal for all skin types, and used and recommended by leading dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons, Clarisonic has long been the authority in facial cleansing.
It's time to think beyond the washcloth and elevate cleansing to a sonic level! Clarisonic's patented sonic technology oscillates (translation: rotates back and forth) at a speed of 300 movements per second to gently remove impurities traditional cleaning methods leave behind, cleansing six times better than your hands alone. In just 60 seconds, its sonic action removes impurities from pores so that creams, serums, and moisturizers are more effective. With regular daily use, it is claimed that you will notice a improvement in the overall appearance of pores, fine lines, wrinkles, dry patches, oily areas, and blemishes.
The Clarisonic Mia 2 takes all of these benefits into this travel-friendly model that comes with a convenient travel case and international pLink charger for worldwide use. It also features two speeds for customized cleansing and a 1-Minute Pulsing T-Timer to guide your cleanse, prompting when it's time to move to another part of your face. The Clarisonic Mia 2 kit also includes a sensitive brush head and 1 oz Refreshing Gel Cleanser, and it comes with a two-year warranty.
Since I have been dealing with eczema on top of dry and sensitive skin since I was young, I was always a bit intimidated by Clarisonic - I thought it would be too rough on my skin and that it would inevitably trigger an eczema flare-up. When I was given the opportunity to try the Mia 2 though, I could not contain my excitement! Still, I read tons of reviews and watched countless YouTube videos before saying yes, and I figured that if this product was not for me, I could always give it to someone who would benefit from it more than me.
When I received my Clarisonic Mia 2 (I got the shade 'Energy'), I could not wait to try it out, but I realized that I needed to charge it for 24 hours prior to the first use (a fully Mia 2 gives 24 minutes of use). The pLink charger is like nothing I have seen before - it magnetically attaches to the handle! The morning after, it was finally time to test my new "toy"! Since I have been dealing with topical steroid withdrawal, my skin won't tolerate any soap or moisturizer, so for months now I have been washing my face and body with a washcloth and water only, and I did not moisturize. My skin is still dry, but since I went through moisturizer withdrawal as well, I don't feel the urge to apply moisturizer (not that I have a choice anyway). With that in mind, I wet the brush head with warm water and proceeded to cleanse, using the first speed for a gentle action, and following the T-Timer instructions. I barely felt the brush's movements - it was actually really gentle on my skin, and I absolutely noticed a difference after the first use! The red and irritated patches on my face seemed less noticeable, and my skin seemed to have a healthy glow to it! With continuous use, the red patches completely disappear, and the dry areas were less noticeable, softer and smoother.
I tried the second speed setting for fun, and I don't really notice a big difference between the two settings. I guess that if I was wearing makeup, I would use the second setting at night for a deeper cleansing, to properly remove makeup and debris accumulated through the day. It is recommended to remove the brush head once a week and rinse with warm soapy water to remove any residue, however, I like to do this after every wash since I can feel an oily residue on the bristle. Also, the brush head replace every 3 months.
Overall, I am seriously impressed by Clarisonic Mia 2 and now I can totally testify that all the hype is justified! I have been using it a few times a week for a month now and I can't wait to see how it treats my skin on the long term.
Clarisonic Mia 2 is available at $180.00 and comes in a variety of colors.
