Your skin tone has a lot to do with what kind of makeup looks good on you. Wearing the wrong colors can make you look pale or even cross eyed. In case you’ve never paid much attention to your skin tone while selecting makeup here are a few tips on how to find colors that will work best for you.
Fair Skin
Blush - If you want to highlight your cheeks use a soft shade of pink or peach to do so. Using a dark pink will overwhelm your face and make you appear somewhat clownish.
Lipstick - Since your skin is so fair shades of coral, red and pink will really make your lips stand out. Stay away from brown because it will wash you out.
Olive Skin
Eye Shadow - If you have olive skin there’s a pretty good chance that you either have green, hazel or brown eyes. If you have green or hazel eyes then use purple, forest green or brown shadows. If you have brown eyes on the other hand you have a much broader rang to select from. So broad in fact that you’re pretty much free to pick any color you like so get creative and have fun.
Blush - If you use blush accentuate your cheekbones try a warm rose or apricot. These colors will give you a warm look that will look great year round.
Lipstick - A nude color will look stunning on you especially if it has some shimmer. Bright colors such as red will really stand out with your skin tone while a splash of color like a berry red will look sophisticated.
Black Skin
Eye Shadow - Color looks incredible on your skin so go ahead and experiment with different colors and techniques to find the ones that suit you best. Blue, green, silver, gold, smokey eye- you really can’t go wrong. And don’t forget to use liner and mascara for an extra dose of drama.
Blush - Sure you can use blush if you like but bronzer will do wonders to bring out those cheekbones and highlight your features.
Lip Gloss - Glosses in shades of nude, chocolate and wine will add shine and really work to bring out your lips.
No matter what your skin tone you will have to try out a wide variety of colors before you find some that you love. Try to get away from your comfort zone from time to time and try something new. You never know you may like what you find.
